In EU2 a strong navy was very important if the player knew how to use it right, but the AI was a bit slow as far as naval matters were concerened.

Also, I think the importance of a strong navy in an era dominated by overseas trade etc, should be made more apparent. Like I said, it is already in EU2, but can go a bit unnoticed.

Can anyone on the team tell us if the naval aspect has been much looked at? I am hoping it wouldn't have been too much, the tools for it were already there.

Maybe the larger your navy, the quicker your merchants reach a CoT that isn't on the same continent?

Unnecessary. Navy is important as it is. A hostile navy sitting in front of a CoT on a different continent having the same effect as an embargo could be included as a toggleable option, though. Then pirates would start disrupting economies, at last. :)

Thats not a bad idea, though I think maybe a better and easier way to go would be to increase the chance of a succesfull placement in an overseas CoT representing better protection for merchants and merchant vessels.
