I have been wondering about how naval Landings work. Especially if you want to defeat Britain and Japan. Do you load them onto convoys or transports and just seND them to a location like land forces?
invasions require plans. Its the best way to avoid all the exploits inherent in manual invasions (no long preparation phase, can place ships in sea province outside until second you declare war etc)
- Troops being transported or during a planned invasion may be attacked leading to them being wiped out or severely weakened. You always want to be very careful and guard your transport routes before sending troops somewhere in war time.
You have to make sure that you have naval superiority in that region, since otherwise an portion if not the whole army can get sunk. If you want to invade the UK via the english channel you need alot of ships in that region to cover the invasion.I do wonder if the AI will guard that battleplan with escort ships and fleets. Because transporting troops and equipment for amphibious assault is one of the most fragile things in a war and requires heavy protection from enemy fleets on all directions.

If an convoy is attacked, regardless if its carrying supply or troops, it will create an naval battle, in which ships in that region will try to come to assist. If those ships arrive in time you could even end up not losing a single convoy in that battle.
If your fleet is set to convoy raiding for example they will engage enemy convoys but try to disengage as soon as enemy military vessels join in.
the battleplan itself, which is executed by the AI doesnt automaticly assign your fleets to protect it. You have to assign your fleets to the english channel on patrol for example. If your landing craft convoys are then attacked the military vessels will then rush to aid the convoys. The Battleplan AI uses groundforces, not navy or airforces. You assign them to strategic air- and seazones and assign the squadrons/fleets missions in that zones.Yes, but the point is, I am wondering if AI will be able to do that. Because this is a very important thing and humans will be able to master it without much effort, while AI might get all the manpower it has, sunk.
