I was wondering how important this would be in the whole naval warfare aspect of the game. Breaking codes was hugely important in both the pacific and Atlantic theaters. Would breaking intelligence codes be represented and help,as an example, convoy escorts track submarines in the Atlantic? This would be a neat little feature to have and would help improve the intelligence game, since it was practically useless in previous titles and would give use to intelligence techs.

I think this is covered in the Developer Diaries as to which "plans" can be seen and which cannot be seen by the enemy. Also in the SUB war, this will prove to be useful in doing anti-sub activity.

There is no intelligence in the base game. There is techs like radar which will probably increase the odds of you force being able to engage the enemy fleet if you are in the same sea zone.

It was also very important for the US subs attacking Japanese shipping. They were able to route subs to where convoys were going to be and know if the convoys were escorted.

We know nothing about espionage, apart from the fact that basically it's not there.
An easy way to represent (naval) enigma would be to give a substantial bonus to missions (that is: easier to detect enemy convoys, harder for the enemy to detect your own convoys).

There are techs for decryption in the research tree in the latest videos. I expect these to be represented in game by a bonus to the chance of discovering enemy battle plans, but this is entirely speculative guesswork on my end. Hopefully in a future video one of them will actually mouse over and say "I'm gonna research this cause it does blah blah blah." If decryption tech does in fact help you steal battle plans there would be just about no point in grabbing it until just before the war breaks out, which might be why nobody has researched it yet. The irony of this method is that the Polish, who broke the enigma code, would have no need to use the in game decryption tech; they know what's coming.

At one point they said you would also be able to create fake plans to mislead the enemy, just a ruse not a real battle plan; not sure if that feature survived the re-iteration of the battle planner though.

I do remember hearing that, although with the way it is looking at recent showings it looks like this might not have survived. All in all I feel that there is a set up here fora fun intelligence system, we just have no clue how it is implemented.

There is intelligence in the game. Your decryption and encryption skills determin how much and how accurate infos you or your enemy get. For example, you cant see enemy national focus trees if your decryption skill is too low, but if it is high enough compared to their enecryption you can see what they are up to national focus wise. Other than that you get an estimated enemy strenght in number of divisions, ships, planes, civilian factories, military factories, dockyards or convoys, which is very inaccurate if you have low decryption. It might tell you that the enemy has between 220 and 467 division if your skill is low and the enemy has good encryption, while the gap might only be 50 divisions big if you have excelent decryption. You never will get the exact number of course, since that is practicly impossible

Before anyone asks, just ignore the leader portrait, this is an placeholder for the cut version of the game, since members of the NSDAP party and their symbols are restricted by law in some central european countries. They are only useable for edjucational or artistic purpose or for anti-nazi campaigns and otherwise arent allowed to be displayed publicly.
