Hi gzav,

i dont talk about 1.06b. I talk about "1.06 final".
. . .
We dont want 1.06b....a final 1.06 is also fine..... Easter was a long time ago.....
If they had released it shortly after Easter they might have called it a "1.06 refresh" or 1.06b; 1.06b doesn't necessarily mean "beta" as with 1.03b which was considered "official" I believe. I suspect the next patch now will actually be called 1.07.

As per Chaplains post...

The name of the game is Air superiority. I agree that the ship air defenses arent quite up to par, but the UK is almost required to research fighter techs from the beginning and religously as are the Germans. A stack of improved fighters can chew up naval bombers in no time!

EVERYTHING human verus AI in the game is an exploit. The AI can not think. You can. I hope. :) Try this against another human and be humbled. :)

Yes, if I have learned something in the time of 25 Years of Computer playing....its this, that no AI could learn until now.

Thats for future games...i hope. But I´ve learned also, that Computer AI went better from year to year. Paradox and all Modders learned much in these area since 1.00 HoI. There is still hope, that the 1.09 HoI2 could be a real challenge for a human Player.....

But now, all I want is a workaround, to give the AI more chances to withstand my cruel attacks from the Air.

BTW, have you tried CORE 0.82? Extremely improved for SP. As a matter of fact, I never play HOI without CORE anymore (except the odd MP game) because the experience is so much improved.

I only watched a handsoff 0.82 until now. If thats true, i should give it a try. Are Naval Air so deadly as in vanilla ? What else improves core 0.82 over vanilla now ??

I must say, Core shines nice, but I hated until now the fact, that all the techtree is very different from Vanilla. Seems I must learn teching new. The other thing I dont want in Core are the many changes. Why is there a egypt country..... All in all core closes me more than vanilla. It seemes that you dont have so much possibilites to change the historic way than in Vanilla.

I like the fact, if a gameplay comes very near to reality in its rules, but also it should give you all the possibilities to do what was possible for the historic ruler in that time. So it would be a nice thing, if the sourrounding countries would react about the fact, if germany played the role of the good guy.

If Germany reacted very different, the WW2 were surely very different, if it happened. Maybe germany france and GB against russia and Japan....or any other combination.

But I should give core a try.......

Well, since you asked ...

The changes in CORE are too many to mention, but to give you an example of the how the game CAN work -

In my latest CORE 0.82 game as USSR, Germany played the "good guy" more or less. He did not annex Czechoslovakia. He allied Hungary and Bulgaria (and nearly Yugoslavia) while I allied Romania. He did not attack Poland. Italy, however, went to war with the UK and France in early 1940. I invaded and conquered - er, "liberated" - Finland from crass commercialism in 1940. Germany stayed neutral. I invaded Sweden and fought a long campaign in 1941 to conquer her and the Baltic republics. Germany stayed neutral. UK/Fr kicked Italy out of Egypt and invaded the mainland. Germany stayed neutral. Japan DOW'd USA in Jan 1942 after nearly swallowing China.

At this point I realized that the game had become a struggle between the purity of Communism ( :p ) and the decadence of the West, with the Fascist playing spoiler. (Talk about plausible!) All my subsequent moves were indirect digs at the West, trying to get ahead of them VP-wise without directly going to war with them. The result was a terrific game where I invaded Poland in 1943, then attacked Germany in summer '43 as a means of trying to get ahead of the West.

It's currently late '44 and I am stalemated against the Germans - at the gates of Berlin - while UK/Fr is trying to finish subduing Italy (whom I am supporting with tech and supplies, in a sort of proxy Cold War), and the USA is fighting (alone) to subdue Japan. UK/FR also just went to war with Germany after the Germans conquered Benelux. Norway teeters on the brink of socialism. How's that for alternate possibilities plausibly played out?

Anyway, give it a shot. You won't regret it. Much bigger tech tree that is much more elaborate and realistic. Many more events and political decisions to make which affect your situation. Be sure to play with FOW and Normal/Normal to maximize the experience - CORE is designed in this way. It has its own difficulty setting which are independent of vanilla. :)

Good luck!
