The Naval Arms Race has ended in the previous years before the start of the game. To make the game more interesting will Germany try to rebuild its navy to cope with the much larger English navy in another arms race? Will we see the navies of each nation be rebuilt or upgraded in the game so all nations try to create navies to fight against one another in large battles?

It looks like you can build a navy as quickly as you have factories and resources for your production line of ships. If you are Germany, you may be able to outproduce the British player due to your stronger industrial base, but your land and air game would suffer.

The real question is whether it's possible to beat both USA and Britain.

It seems like it's almost a necessity to have a strong Navy as Germany, as we are seeing in the WWW. Daniel is unable to take the war to USA or Britain, and is sort of just sitting around focusing on minor objectives while fending off invasion after invasion.

If Germany manages to hold onto all of Europe and Asia I think it could be considered a pretty impressive Axis victory though...

Knocking our Russia and conquering entire Asia being viewed as 'minor objectives' is perhaps a little Eurocentric way to look at things... ;d

I'm not quite sure whether it's possible to built up a fleet big enough to beat both.

I have noticed in last www that at least in terms of ressources ships are redicoulus expensive in comparison to landforces.

I don't know how much of an effect the production of equipment without the necessary ressources is but I've seen that Johan is building up 1.51 destroyers per month with 15 naval factories.

That means that he can produce on destroyer every 18.19 days. With just the cost of oil of that one destroyer he could build over 600 new trucks which he needs much more btw.;)

But there is still hope for Daniel to building up that fleet!:)

Both of them clicking like mad to avoid screens they obviously spare for dev-diaries in the future.
:(

I don't see any other reason why they show us like 98% battlemap (a lot of them in russia which is quite boring because the SU is fallen and even I would let do the AI the simple task of just capturing undefended provinces).

Daniel has at least 4 battleships in the queue and has captured the entire soviet fleet, I guess.:D

I don't think SU had that much of a navy to speak of; on the opposite side Britain player got their hands on the most of if not the entire French navy, when France merged with Britain early in the war. There was no Mers-el-Kebir and Toulon there.

3 pretty old battleships, 1 old heavy cruiser, 8 destroyer fleets (3 rusty, 3 old and 2 modern), 27 supmarine fleets (14 rusty, 9 old and 4 modern).

And with modern i meant from 1939 not 1943.:D

I guess you are right Tom. I honestly tought the soviet fleet was bigger.

But they could be a nice 'meatshield'. I mean more targets mean that there is a smaller chance that the 'good' ships are getting hits from enemy fire.:D
