Haha, in my Castile->Spain game, around 1480, I just fought a war against the French with my English allies for the second time. The first war (Engliand was the agressor) we won, very nice, get and released some stuff, England got Caux back.
In the second war, with England as the agressor, we had somewath of a stalemate. Why? Because England refused to land with its 61'000 men in France or in open doored Castile, and decided to let me fight this war on my own. Again. We could have won with ease, but I peaced out. Why? Because the perspective of fighting that war on my own again and being pulled to war the next centuries over and over again by an ally that is refusing to take part in that very war he started is .. dumb. So I drop the alliance. Very very sad, would this work properly, I wouldn't have any problems with "oh my god OP France", due to cleverly plan my diplomatic relations and stuff, but due to bugged AI it's still not possible.
