Re: Thanks!

Bleddyn ap Cynfyn ruled Gwynedd and Powys from 1063. I believe Gwynedd was the "senior" part in that union created by Rhodri Mawr back in the 9th century...

I'm not sure, really, when they stopped callong themself kings of/in Pamplona and became kings of Navarra. Maybe some of our Spanish members knows?Originally posted by Lycortas2
Hi all,
Thanks for the responses!
I figured the Pampalona=Navarre thing but i figured I should ask just in case.
Glamorgan? what are you English? Morgannwg!
Glamorgan, ah, that makes sense now.
Powys was still administered from Gwynedd in 1066? cool. One problem as a generalist or even as a historian in general is finding snap shots in history. I knew that during the civil war between Maude & Stephen, Powys tested the English frontier near Shrewsbury under an independent Prince against the advice of the Prince of Gwynedd, Owain Gwynedd if I remember correctly. I was not sure when the Prince was independent again.

Sadly my source are mainly in English. My Welsh is a bit... eh... non-existant I'm afraid
Dyfed? what are you English? Dafydd!
