also, Republic of Dubrovnik should become independent in 14.ct

Nothing after 1066 is certain to be as in history. So Croatia might not come after 20 years, if at all. Same for Dubrovic.;)

Well the last is true if you count, that you were inherited by the King of Hungary that at his time was inherited by the Duke of Luxemburg who was the Emperor, it want to say that the Luxemburg Dinasty that starts ruling Luxemburg at the end is the Emperor, althought also king of all that places, but as the game goes for dinasties, is the Luxemburg the one that is at same time Emperor and King of Croatia, among others, without forgeting later it will be inherited by Habsburgs :p

Will one be able to 'create' a new dynasty, or will there be events leading to creations of new dynasties? For example, Lithuania was created as a political entity in 1240, and its dynasty had no ties with any of the other dynasties posted here. So there would have to be some way of making the Lithuanian dynasty appear.
I am sure that this isn't the only example of such a thing happening.

But the Dinasty shall come from somewhere, like Habsburgs that in 1066 are little counts in switzerland.

Well, don't know about Hohenstauffs, but for example Polish Piasts couldn't be called "Piasts" in game for historical reasons: the name for dynasty appeared in XVIII century, ealier they were just Polish princes, and Piast was their legendary ancestor.

You know, I am a little disappointed that Nubia is not in. It could have been interesting to have an alliance between western Europe and the quasi mythical land that was belived (by some, other thought that was the Kingdom of Prester John) to hold the Garden. Also, could have been interesting to see the reaction of the Christian populace to Christian Nubian dominance.

Who thinks about them NOW? Seriously...wouldn't they be a "native" (tribal) society in CK, same as in EU? The moslems, on the other hand, were an organized society. Still, I think we will have plenty to do playing the s**tload of european feudal clans included, to keep us from missing a few moslems and mongols.

I don't think the point is wether or not a dynasty is christian or not, but if the state they represent at the start of the game is feudal or not. I understand states such as Genoa and Florence are non-playable because the are not feudal kingdoms, but merchant republics ruled by different principles.

About the naming of the different countries, I think it should be done in English. For one thing, the 'native names' your are calling for are in many cases modern names, which weren't used in the time. The spelling of España, for example, has changed through the ages. And having the title (King) in one language and the place (Castilla) in another one looks weird, at least to me. And finally, a Leonese king of 1066 wouldn't call himself Rey de León, but Rex Legio.

If we want to be picky, it would be Legione for 1066. Legionis appears for the first time in the seal of Ferdinand III after 1230, his ancestors wrote Legione.

Hi all,

Why is the Duchy of Aquitaine not listed as playable? or for that matter the C. of Toulouse?

They certainly were not part of France in any way, shape or form. Not in the French kings muddiest dreams.

Is this list just not complete? It seems to be missing several countries.

Wales. Where are the 3 chief Princes?
I see Gwynedd but where is Powys and Dafydd? And what the heck is Morganwyg or whatever? I am Welsh and I have never heard that one!

What about Navarre?

I don't think the kingdom of Navarre had been proclaimed yet in 1066.

There's been some debate about these (and also the Bretons). I think the jury is still out on thsi question...

The three princes are the Princes of Gwynedd, Morgannwg and Deheubarth.

Powys was subject to the prince of Gwynedd until 1075; Dyfed (I assume that's what you had in mind) was ruled by the Prince of Deheubarth.

Morgannwg (aka Glamorgan) was created when Morgan ab Owain united the former kingdoms of Gwent and Glywysing in 942. The realm was split after his death, but united again in 1055 under Cadwgan ap Meurig. The principality was annexed by the Normans in 1091.

What about Navarre?
Kingdom of Pamplona = Navarra.

Thanks!

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses!

I figured the Pampalona=Navarre thing but i figured I should ask just in case.

Glamorgan, ah, that makes sense now.

Powys was still administered from Gwynedd in 1066? cool. One problem as a generalist or even as a historian in general is finding snap shots in history. I knew that during the civil war between Maude & Stephen, Powys tested the English frontier near Shrewsbury under an independent Prince against the advice of the Prince of Gwynedd, Owain Gwynedd if I remember correctly. I was not sure when the Prince was independent again.

Dyfed? what are you English? Dafydd!
:D
