FOR THE LAST TIME, YOU DO NOT PLAY NATIONS BUT DYNASTIES!

Pardon my queries if it only reveals my ignorance.
(1) In the initial list you have names of places, not names of dynasties. Are we going to be called, say "Duke of Swabia dynasty" or "Hohenstaufen"?
(2) 1066 as a starting date...So are we going to see an explosion of new "dynasties" (cities) in Italy forty years later? Or is the whole "commune" movement going to be ignored? And the Guelph-Ghibelline wars?
(3) What about ecclesiastical states? I mean, no "dynasties" there, but do the territories exist and can you invest them? And if not, is there going to be no "investituture crisis"?
(4) Do AI dynasties die out, giving you the chance to "re-invest" a vassal in somebody else?

Communes and republics are, along with ecclesciastical "states" (i.e. the Papacy, religious orders etc) are not playable...
"Controllable", not "playable" is what I have seen...Originally posted by Txini
Thought Church States and orders were playable if you were lucky enough to get someone of you Dinasty in front of them.

Not really. Sovereign Christian dynasties are described as playable, while e.g. the Papacy is described as controllable - i.e. there are differences.Originally posted by Txini
All depends on how do you call it![]()

There was an Assyrian Catholic Nation at this time in the mid east.

He might be talking about the Emirate of Alleppo, which I think should not be playable because of it's vassalization to the Byzantines. Damn, that would be fun though. A Syrian reconquest of the Mid East........
