What happened to it? I remember it being in EU3, and was allowed for ever nation after some year, can't remember which, and simulated, well, nationalism. The wish to unite everyone of one culture group under one flag.

Now, to be honest I found that it was given to EVERYONE after year xxxx, or at least that it was for the culture GROUP, rather than just the culture, a bit weird. However, it was also given to all states that were cultural union countries. France for the French group, Scandinavia for the Scandinavian group etc. Now the last reasoning there, I like.

What would it do? Currently there is an issue, say if you form Germany. Brilliant! But, you only own half of the actual area that is Germany, and there are still many Germans outside the safe crib of the German Reich! Germany gets claims on the geographic area that is considered German. For 20 years. That's nothing! And they're only claims, which aren't really that good, someone on this forum even claimed conquest CB was the worst of all CBs or something. Can't remember why. After those twenty first years, you're stuck. Now, hand them the Nationalism CB and the problem would be solved!

At least give it against nations that are not of that culture group, otherwise it might be too easy for, say France, to just crush Burgundy early on, because of said CB.

Yeah, that or make claims last longer. Though I think that CB is just as bad as the conquest of claims CB.

Alternatively, it could just give cores like it used to. Honestly, the requirements for forming many of the nations are silly and quite arbitrary. Could you imagine a state that only owned Rome, Milan, Florence, Ancona, and Siena actually calling itself Italy? Or a state with the ten provinces required for Germany being successful at unifying most of the German territories? I always liked the variable system D&T had, and it makes transitioning from one state to another more plausible when you can actually claim to have united most of your culture.

I kind of agree with this. Maybe the requirement would be "owning 50% or more cities in the region"?

And I also agree with the claims given as you form a cultural union. I mean... thanks, but does the game want me to go all nuts and get myself in a ridiculous coalition? How about a special CB over the regions with some overall AE reduction (as opposed to Conquest, AE reduction only for the war goal) and a claim given upon conquest, for a given amount of time?

My number would be more like 75%. If we use Imperial Germany's provincial borders, there's 58 German provinces. That's excluding Slesvig, Metz, Silesia, Prussia, and the Posen provinces since they're outside of the German region. Austria, Bohmerwald, and Erz add another 13 provinces. So, again, you need 10 cores to get claims on 61 other provinces you may or may not own? The number should be at least 40 or 50 for that region, with few required provinces.

Now what if your vassals land was counted in on that? I mean, a unification was several realms becoming one, rather than "Hey, I own a lot of the area in this region, thus I can just name my realm after this region" Also triggering an event for your vassals were they could opt in or out. I believe that was a thing in D&T, or maybe EU3
