Say you take an idea thats much like a mission.. as in "reestablish the kingdom of heaven", and once a bunch of provinces have been taken in the levant, and you have created the kingdom of heaven.. you woul get some very nice reward event for your effort.

Or say, for a decidedly very powerful idea, "claim the mongol mantle".. get mongol and maybe tatar culture -simulated thru the idea, some cbs.. and very bad relations with a series of nations.. and once a keyset of provinces have been conquered and you have more or less recreated the mongol empire, you would get those two cultures permanently a bunch of national shields and the idea would fade.

..might not be strictly balanced that later one, but at the same time awesome fun! :D

needless to state, all type of "the greek project" would be perfect for this, along with "spice monopoly" and similar.

So what do you think? :)

Why not just "Recreate the Roman Empire"? Giving you cores on most of Europe, NA and Arabia and cultures for all those areas as well.

Yea. Which means you could go and be more ambitious and recreate old imperial Rome at its height.

Based on Late Medieval history, let's see ... whoever controls the Kingdom of Sicily? :D

"Create the European Union" +french, italian, german, spanish, polish, scandinavian, british, dutch etc. culture ;)

I actually like the idea, but it should have a downside too. E.g. you should suffer bad consequences if you don't achieve your goal within a certain time frame.

I think you are mistaking the national ideas for a mission system.

Ah, but rather interlinking the two. For certainly the randomness of missions was a bit silly, right? This way you can chose your own destiny..
And who cares for just VPs anyway? ;)

So something like dominating the spice trade would give you a series of cbs and cheaper ships etc..
And once you have taken the provinces a event pops up that does something nice, conversions, taxvalue, and even a price upping of spice. COT naturally included :p

Those events would be triggered for having introduced this specific idea, rather than being bound to just one nation. This would give the flexibility and have other seeking the spice as fervently as would netherlands and portugal do if those events were just for them.
