What could be better than rolling into Germany, screaming "Death to the Fascists!" while this song is blasting from your speakers?

IMO, the build-up of the full tempo and aggressivness of the Rider's March around you as the Germans are running towards their vaterland before your uncountable armadas of T-34 (supported by cavalry, of course ) has a far greater effect.

I think National Anthems are a good idea. After a quick search, I was able to find the USSR National Anthem (1944 version) sung by the Red Army choir.

Thats not the 1944 version, its a later one. Words have changed after Stalin's death. This is Brezhnev's version. The 1944 version had 1 more verse.

I think that the anthems should just be at random...
But obviously, since it is for each country specifically.... it can't be the first tune, since you haven't selected your country...

You are absolutly right. I just wanted to add that Hadyn was an Austrian and that his song first was the anthem for famous Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph.
I`m not shure but I think the Germans "borrowed" Austrias anthem after the first World War.

actually, they stole it and it was for Kaiser Franz II.(HREGN/HRRDN - pre 1806)/I.(Austria - post 1806) not Franz Joseph I originally
the following Emperors used the anthem until 1918 (i.e. it was translated into all languages of the monarchy and every soldier had to know at least the first verse in their language

the real anthem, called Kaiserhymne, is:

Germany's current national anthem is the 3rd verse of Haydn's opus, the words are "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit" (Unity, justice and liberty) (no wise-cracks, please)
Whereas the lyrics that was banned are from the first verse ... I'm not gonna write them, you all know'em [...]

Urban legend. Not one word of the Deutschlandlied is banned in Germany. I can go out, screaming the first verse of this song all day long if I want to.

My mistake. It didn't have translations, so I couldn't tell. But now that I remember, you are right. The extra '44 verse had something about Stalin in it.

Hehe, on a side note...
I've actually been using national anthems in different playlists (according to which country I was playing) for months, while playing HoI.

It's especially fun while playing CCCP. There's so much great music by the Russian Red Army Choir, it's just great to listen to while battling those fascist scumbags! Hehe...

One other thing.
I believe that I've on several occasions have heard Germans sing both the first, second and third stanza of "Das Lied der Deutschen".
The "Deutschland über alles" part is in the first stanza.

IIRC Hitler was actually the man who re-instated "Das Lied der Deutschen" as the national anthem. I believe it was outlawed to sing that tune, in the Weimar days...
