Briefly:
As for the banning, I repeat the request I made in the Ederon and CK threads: No celebrations, please. I consider Blayne a friend, and banning him is frankly rather painful.
- Malaysia, Germany, and France were at war with Japan, Quebec, Shanxi, and Russia.
- Japan negotiated a peace with Malaysia, whereby Germany and France were to bite off some reasonable chunk of Russia, but otherwise WP. You may refer to this as "flexible diplomacy" or "selling out allies", according to taste.
- Since pieces of Russia were being offered, I naturally expressed an interest in Finland.
- At this point confusion arose:
- Dano says he told me that my entry would void the peace treaty, and that Japan was willing to go to the nuclear wall if he had to fight both Norway and Malaysia.
- I was unaware of this.
- The complete annexation of Russia was contemplated.
- Jakalo stated that this would not be acceptable.
- Blayne said that there would be no Finland without blood.
- I accordingly supplied some blood by invading Finland, unaware that this would void Dano's negotiations with Jakalo. I thought I was doing some pro-forma fighting (15 Russian infantry divisions, 60 Norwegian ones of which ~20 armoured) for the honour of the Russian flag, just so Finland wouldn't have been surrendered without a fight.
- Dano WP'ed, and we were left in almost the diplomatic situation of last week: Norway, France, and Germany at war with Quebec, Japan, Shanxi, and Russia. Note that Italy was neutral this time.
- The situation in the field, however, was rather improved. Because the Japanese army had been defending China, France and Germany had been able to push deep into Russia and Spain - Moscow and Gibraltar, respectively, had fallen. Against this, since war with Japan had been rather unexpected for me, I had not placed a strong garrison in Scotland, and Shanxian troops had occupied it, although I was able to evacuate and to hang onto Ireland. But Scotland against most of the industry of Russia is obviously quite a nice trade, plus I held Finland.
- We therefore negotiated a peace which essentially restored the prewar (that is, pre- the previous war) borders in Russia and in Spain; kept Japan in the Norse Law; and gave Norway Finland.
