I'm playing AGCEEP with 1.08 latest beta and started a Grand Campaign as Russia. Couple of events in that gave me crapload of sunni provinces on steppes...and I'm in trouble with constant rebellions. Soo...I had a vague recollection that going fully Narrowminded would give some random conversions of provinces...so I went that way. So far I'm not being too successful with it..and it plays hell with my technology research too. Is the fully Narrowminded worth it ? I'm also fully Centralized, slightly Plutocratic, Quality and Free Subjects...planning to go fully Free Subjects.

BTW, interesting "religious fanatics state" ...fully Narrowminded, centralized but Free...

So, any hints about that situation ??

Cheers,

M.S.

Luck (or bad luck).

In AGCEEP, you get at least the possibility for one random conversion event. By going narrowminded, you get more possibilities (one more at INNO 2 or less, and conversion by the swords at INNO 5- and 1-, and again more conversion by the sword by being a BB). So, at nearly fully narrowminded, you get four events in the list of possible events. But you still have to be lucky to get one of them. What year is it now in your game ?

Year 1535, if I remember correctly. I think I had one of those conversions by sword earlier...and 2 that I think were "scripted events", not random, since they changed culture which is of course different...don't remember if they changed religion too. But anyhow, missionaries seem to work decently (40 %-50 % success so far)..it's just darn slow :)

Hey : if you were fully innovative, you wouldn't even get any missionaries. ;)

Random Conversion by the Sword events don't change culture.

Also, there're no scripted Conversion by the sword events, only a handful of "Russian Settlements in xxx" events (that only change culture of the province), that trigger only when you own the province (most of former GH provinces) and have converted it to orthodoxy. So, please convert. :D

I guess those events make tatar culture less interesting... :p
Rule Novgorod.

Well, it has gone well after all, and it's 1598 now. Plenty of missionaries, so I'm usually able to keep even 2 missionaries in work simultaneously...and I've explored and colonized the Siberian and Ural corridors to Ob where I did run to Mongols or something like that. Since Sweden, Norway and Denmark have been busy to maul each other...Scandinavia looks like old patched bedcover, very disorganized, with Denmark having upper hand.... I think those pesky Poles and assorted Kazak etc. rabble are going to have interesting time during next century. I doubt that Sweden will be of any threat because they are down to 4-5 provinces with no land connection to those 2 in Finland.

But, I'm curious still...does fully Narrowminded increase the odd to "Conversion of Heretics" random event to happen ? "Conversion by Sword" has happened me twice now, but I think "Conversion of Heretics" only once.

Cheers,

M.S.

In the vanilla game there are two Conversion of Heretics events. Any nation can get one of them, but the second requires Narrowminded 2 or less. So going at least that much narrowminded doubles your chances. Still, these events are usually very rare. I usually get a random conversion only once per century, and it is not at all unusual to go 200 years without one. :(

I've never played AGCEEP so I can't comment on the forced conversions. Sounds like a good idea, though. :D

Check post #2. ;)

All valid events (ie those whose triggers are met) get the same chances to fire. But if you have three separate events with exactly the same name/effects/triggers/etc, you get thrice the chances to get one of them. So, yes, in a sense at least, going narrowminded makes those events fire more often.
