Well. That would make benefit both Paradox and the customers, so i don't see any reasons against my idea.

Paradox would still have to hire someone out to print the CD and deal with all the shipping. So they would still have to shell out a lot of money for almost no customers.

I'm sure this frustrates a lot of people, including myself. This means (probably) no more updates for us without NA and no more mods without NA. :(

It all vaguely reminds me of when Doomsday came out. The only difference is that Doomsday was actually available to all its customers.

If the problem is the lack of a credit card, go to paypal and check your options there. In many countries you can use your debit account to transfer money to paypal and then buy NA with it.

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-country-functionality-outside

If your problem is not the lack of a credit card. Well, not much to do about it then. The only reason why we are getting these expansions in the first place is because of the gamersgate infrastructure that avoids expensive (for a variety of reasons) retail releases.

If paradox would let me, I'd start a business copying CD's with the file on it for 10 bucks + shipping and handling for each CD.

It's like a 40mb file guys. There is no reason to be asking for this. It's bascially a patch. Copy it on to you sandisk usb storage or whatever and you have it forever. Remember when stuff used to be only on 3.5 inch floppys or 5.125? It's the same thing. Times change.

I doubt their problem is that they do not know how to store the file. They have to get their hands on it first, which they cannot do legally if they can't figure out a way to buy it.

True, yes - but some of us do not have internet capability on our gaming PC. I could easily buy and download NA from GG on my roommate's PC, but I have been told over and over that the PC to which you download NA must also be the PC to which you install NA .

Yes I believe you are right you must install to the comp you download it to.

That doesn't mean you can't copy the installed files to your gaming PC.

additionally, you can just make a backup copy of an installed version of Eu3+nappy onto any disc, which you can then simply duplicate.

No, you can not. You STILL need to contact GG's server to authorize a reinstall EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU INSTALL THE NAPPY EXPANSION, since the registry files required to play are not copied. So if your gaming rig is not net connected, you are boned. THAT'S why I prefer to BUY a game, and not RENT it from a manufacturer.

As for losing money, the real reason is their profit MARGIN would not be as high. They would still make a profit, just not as large of one. So give the money loss spin a break, it is just that, a spin to make you think they is po' folks.

Can´t you just quickly connect your computer to the net, install it and that´s it?

Not possible for me.

I'm thinking it just might be easier for all parties if Johann himself came to my house with a burned copy of NA and downloaded it personally on my PC. Beverages and snacks provided at no additional charge. :p

That's not true.

I have downloaded and installed a game from GG to an USB pen on a Windows machine. I have then moved the game over to a Linux machine and played it there.

For NA you must first install EU3 on your PC, then you must install EU3 on a PC with Internet connection. then download NA and install it and run it once. Then copy the EU3NA folder over to a USB pen/CD. Then just copy it over your EU3 folder.

Should work without any problems.

Just installed NA and it appears that, as we found with Revolutions last year, you can copy the setup.exe while the game is installing (it is created by the downloader and deleted afterwards) and then install without an internet connection in the future. So really payment is the only major issue with GG.

I wouldn't be surprised if they release a EU3+NA combo CD next year (or they may wait and do another expansion first).

The pain of it all

After the frustration of paying for Armegeddon and never getting to play it I must say it would be a big leap to use the nightmare that is gamersgate again. Woe to us with laptops and fast machines that we don't want/or can connect to the internet.

Oddly I sell CD's for my friends band. We sell about a thousand a year. Between burning costs, my time, postage (paid for by those who order) it cost me about $1.75 for each CD. Of course in Sweden one probably needs to pay someone $30 an hour to do this job so it is different.
