And since most of the expansion is code, the download is really not that big, and thus could be downloaded in only a couple of minutes...

Its probably to curb warez monkeys from pirating the crap out of the expansion. EUIII is the kind of game that is a broke gamer's paradise - not overly graphical, small download size (especially if its .rar-ed), and the replay value/gameplay is tremendous.

Still, after hearing about the cost of it, ill probably be getting it from my friendly T-Mart. If its good, I might just buy it. If its not, well, at least it can revive my EUIII playing experience. (I used to burn weeks playing it, and have since been playing other things like Alpha Centauri and RO on Steam.)

Never heard of it. Still, warez doesnt kill as many games as people think. Why? Diehard fans who will buy anything EA... I mean... game companies puts out on the shelf/net.

As long as a game can make more money than it took to create it, the survival of the game rests entirely on the shoulders of the CREATORS, not the public.

got it and played the whole night yesterday.
it plays very fast, and i really like the new trade system with auto trade, priorities and open/closed markets in foreign lands.

i think it adds a lot of atmosphere and i wonder what genius mods like MM will do with this, especially if they can use the higher speed as well.

apart from that, i wonder how ppl can complain about the price of 20€, unless they live in a country where that amount still makes a difference...
here at least, it is the price of two meals at a cheap restaurant or 5 packs of marlboro...but it has much more longterm value to it.
so thats a no-brainer for anyone who wants to play NA.
