I don't have Vicky :)( ) yet, but can someone tell me if it would be possible to make such a scenario? IMO the Vicky engine would be a bit better for it than Eu2, although the whole taking only 3 provinces from a civilized nation and -1000 Prestige from breaking a truce might be a bit of a drag.

It is always possible, but it would be a lot of work. I doubt that you find many people willing to undertake the task.
Wasn't it stated that there isn't a 3 province rule anymore in VIC in another thread in the main forum?

Yeah, I think that a couple of people have mentioned that. If I recall, it's just a matter of your war score.

A Napoleonic scenario would be sooooooo awesome...I don't think they ever did make one that was AFTER 1790 whatever for EU2:( ....it'd be nice to have one in the 1800's:D

I say just make Victoria start in 1790 and you play the Napoleonic wars also on this better engine.

This is much better than the idea of Napoleon victorious as that would leave Europe as a French dominion - much more fun to have to fight for that or to prevent it.

Although a Napoleon scenario on the Vicky engine would be nice, a Napoleon Victorious scenario would be by NO means boring. Even for the unenlightened that don't love the Emperor with every bone in their body :D, the allies (Britain, Russia, Austria, Turkey) could all gang up on France once the God of War dies. There could be revolution in Franc by those wanting a republic instead of an empire. Prussia could rise again. The possiblities are huge. It would be anything but boring!

Can it be that you, too, are a Bonapartist, Elius? I have never met one from an Anglo-Saxon country (besides England, but they can hardly be described as Anglo-Saxon :p)

Well, Napoleon is my hero! :) His life is an example of how one man's will can change the world (for the better in his case;) ). I appreciate all things English (I even spell colour the right way  ), but anybody that does not admit Napoleon was the greatest thing since slice bread must be nutty.

But back on topic - A good starting point for a Napoleonic scenario would be the 1800 Italian campiagn. Napoleon is in power, Egypt is over (except for the fact that the army is still there), Haitian Revolution is in full swing, and Nelson is still alive.

And what, pray tell, is the beginning? Is it 1792 (fist coalition declares war on the Republique), 1793 (the fall of Toulon), 1796 (the fist Italian campiagn), 1798 (the Egyptian campiagn), 1800 (when Napoleon as fist consul lead the second Italian campiagn), 1805, etc. Just asking! :D

Aye, as the scenario will be based on Napoleon so it makes sense to start at the beginning.

Going back is easy with the engine, its just going forward thats hard with technological limits.

We need to find a way to limit the railroad though, activate only after a certain date perhaps and seal off Africa from colonisation.

I think Napoleon traited the ideas of the revolution by becoming the emperor of france

By becoming Emperor, he saved the ideas of the Revolution from destruction by both the radicals on the left and the right. But this is a debate more suited to the History forum than here.

Napoleon Scenario Start

Why not start it in the late 1780s or in 1791 just before the French revolution. The revolution pretty much sets the basis for everything else and determines the alliances that countries will take - its almost like the Russian revolution where the world 'unites' against Communism - the royalties 'unite' against French revolutionary thought.

1791 to 1820. Well within Vickys game time I would think (1891-1920 could simulate this?)

Nah, we cant start before the rev because the emphasis is on Napoleonic wars. The earlier we start the greater the variables - the earliest possible date would be the revolution has fired and Napoleon is in charge, ie 1793.

Why change to 1893? The no time limit mod will rectify the date issue.

What concerns me is tech - we'll probably have to make literacy near 0 for everyone to make sure teching is pretty useless.

Sounds good to me

Sure thing 1793 sounds good to me. Actually I'm kinda pushing for this so all the research I've been doing for a hoped for HoI Napoleonic wars mod won't go to waste hehehe! As usual most of the stuff I've got here are for the Brits, including leaders. For ships, short of someone miraculously finding the period OOBs for their navies perhaps we could reconstruct a best guess OOB from the various battles of the period. I think this would also be easier on the naval side of the game than the current dreadnoughts and ironclads are -in this period all that they did was line up and bang away basically (except when geniuses like Nelson were in charge) - no really difficult maneuvering etc. just good old fashioned line of battle tactics.

Hows this for conversion of ships

Ironclad and Submarine must be researched but can be possible as hypothetical wonder weapons.

100+ Gun First Rate
80-99 Guns
74 Guns - the mainstay of most fleets
50-70 Guns
American Super Frigate (44+ guns) - the Acheron in Master & Commander is actually one of these (ie Old Ironsides!!!)
Regular Frigate (30-50 guns)
Sloop (and other sloop type small vessels)
Merchant Ship (generic merchant ship)

and special warships:
Galleon (slow and thick skinned but poor armament)
East Indiaman (fast and lightly armed merchant ship)
War Junk (representative of other cultures small wooden warships)

Add Ons:
Corvettes +Scouting power
Flagship +Leadership
Transport +Transport Capacity (ships could be outfitted as transports or warships)
Bomb Ketches +Fire Power
Privateer +Scouting and Speed

WhachaThink :)
