For the old Napoleon mod I had already collected some music tracks. IMO these sounds very Napoleonic:

Ouverture of Mélidore et Phrosine by Etienne-Nicolas Méhul (sorry, can't find a youtube clip, only this preview: http://www.musicline.de/de/player_flash/0743625114027/0/0/50/product)

Edit: IMO marches are boring, when you know one, you know them all.

I would also really like there to be a 1789 scenario. However, just 1803 as it is is a lot of work.

In the end I am hoping for these scenarios...

1789 - Revolution
1799 - A New Leader
1803 - Europe at War (currently called The Grand Campaign)
1805 - The Emperor of Europe
1807 - War in Spain
1809 - Austria Resurgent
1812 - The Invasion of Russia
1813 - Europe in Flames
1814 - Napoleon's Retreat
1815 - One Hundred Days

Early invasion of Russia!:)

Ignore Prussia (Germany - the gray country) - in the final version their army will be small and dependent on France. Just like it should be.

I would like to see this mod in E3 map mod since these wars are more concentrated in Europe. AFAIK borders of German states are better represented.

Suggestions for techtree: Technical innovations were much less in this timeframe than in the 20th century. You should adapt the technology research design of Europa Universalis resp. of Victoria games. Limit the maximum techteams slot to one. Give every country one techteam each for every category, and so you have it. For techs let you inspire by Europa Universalis, Victoria, Napoleon Total War, Empire Total War and March of the Eagle and specific mods of them. You don't have to reinvent the wheel. If you don't have access to one of these games or mods I could give you the needed data.

You are already in conctact with mox from RDD-mod for sources?

I don't think that a representation below division is a good decision. The AI tries always to make fronts: the less numbers of 'divisions' the better the Napoleonic feeling. Dunno how a division based scale for pre-1800 scenarios would work, but below brigade it does not make sense gamplay wise. The AI would disperse your Grand Army. You should check OOB's of different years therefore.

Should this mod be in a more progressed condition I would like to help with the Oriental sector (Ottoman Empire, Egypt etc).

Btw, do you have a copy of the 'Napoleon Wars mod'? If not, are you interested in?

I have considered some of these things already. At the moment I have brigades but I am considering switching to divisions of about 8-11,000 men to avoid the problems you have described.

I originally did use the E3 map - however the incomplete terrain made it rather awkward to play with. In addition to this you mentioned how "The AI tries always to make fronts: the less numbers of 'divisions' the better the Napoleonic feeling.". I think also that the less provinces, the better this feeling would be preserved. For simplicity and speed's sake I decided to use the original Darkest Hour map and that is working well right now. As for technology I pretty much agree with everything you have said.

I did get some sources from a fellow on the forums including generals and leaders, although some countries and generals were missing (Michel Ney being the biggest absence.) If you want to work on any part of the mod at any time you are most welcome to, so message me if you are interested.

I looked around for the old mod and found a forum, but all the download links expired. If you have this mod I would be extremely grateful if you could pass it on to me - I need some sprites in particular as I have no skill creating them myself. Thank you very much for your advice.

Just check if your pre-1800 scenarios would be still possible with this setup.

Pity! I understand that you want fast results. But by using DH map now it is more or less a final decision.

Everything else via pm later.

nice work so far.

i will watch this thread

but one question: why did you turned turkey into OTT and didnt used the 1914 scenario OTT, or did i got it wrong from the changelog?

@RealityGuy Patience! The map isn't done yet. And I will soon want all of your opinions as to whether to use the DH map or the old Napoleon Wars mod map.

@warpedmind I am actually using the 1914 scenario as my base. So the Ottoman Empire is the tag OTT.

Alright, here is a comparison between the new DH map, with the awesome E3 map colours and the old Napoleon Wars map with way more Napoleonic era provinces like Jena. Which one do you prefer? (Obviously, the borders of the 1st map aren't quite complete yet)

I like the first one, it looks more "defined" or "edgy" or something like that.

Second map
In napoleonic era, every battle in small vilage was a key moment
