it may have more provinces, but instead of having the support of austria you will be constantly fighting them. you are invading the HRE instead of expanding it
Milan, Savoy and Tuscany are way better if you want to expand into Italy the easy way. Hell, they even have better National Ideas.

Have you tried declaring war on the first day? Just fight the battle and see what you can do, Aragon needs to get over to fight you and hopefully won't get in an alliance with Castille. If they arrive peacemeal you should be able to defeat their forces.
