Just to be a troll- the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands.
If they do that, they may as well make the Liancourt Rocks {aka Dokdo/Takeshima} a province. They can be coupled with Ulleung island and the Oki islands {Korean and Japanese clay respectively}.
Just to be a troll- the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands.
I think Vancouver island should be a separate province as it was settled independently from the main colony of British Columbia. Though if it takes to much coding to change I don't mind
Öland is not in yet at least. It has little historic importance although Åland Island is in! It’s why I first though that meant Bornholm Island was in too. Reason is Åland had fare less importance on the regional scene than Bornholm in EU4’s timeframe. And even through Åland it bigger, it’s actually a spread out archipelago with several regions of inhabitable lands, making Bornholm much bigger with inhabitants and towns even today. So it must be in mostly because of its strategic location being the strait between Sweden and Finland. However Bornholm is not without strategic value either, like historically securing a foothold (that was fought over for centuries) and important naval base in the Baltic Sea for Denmark.Add Öland to the Baltic (come on, you are Swedes after all).
Add Aland to the Baltic (though I think I saw it in a screenshot - can't remember)
Darwin in Northern Australia, becuase I was born there and Perth is a colonisable province.![]()
That’s some interesting info Sazae, especially the local Øland/Gotland issue, which reminds me of the Baltic Sea, especially at Bornholm there was usually for several months in the 14th and 15 century an overwhelmingly fish (herring) abundance. So much that fishermen from Øland around 150km away came to Bornholm to catch fish! One of the big times was in 1346, when many came to fish together with the local Danes. Makes you wonder if their richer neighbors in Gotland didn’t like the local Ølander’s, 65km away fishing near them, seeing they sometimes took the long trip to Bornholm. As much as I would love that (being a native islander and all) Öland hasn't played any important part during the time period (you could also argue that it has never been historically important at all). It was invaded by the danes once (or maybe twice) and two sea battles have been fought off the eastern coast. It was also visited once by Carolus Linnaeus (who absolutely hated us Ölanders because of or utter lack of respect for our 'betters'). Charles X found it hilarious to claim all our land as his own personal property and turned the island into a royal game park, that left us unable to use our own land so we had to bribe officials and sheriffs to look the other way when poaching and cutting firewood, corruption was widespread. It didn't make things easier that products from Öland were scorned in favour of products from damned Gotland. Otherwise Öland was a poor backwater province that was often neglected in favour of twice-be-damned Gotland.
Though it might have been different had Öland been occupied or conquered by another country.
P.S. I was actually surprised that Öland was it's own province in CKII. When the Old Gods DLC is released I shall conquer the Baltic from Borgholm!
Rockall. The strategic benefits should be obvious.
What Trouble?
Care to elaborate?
It will lead to an unreasonable number wars for control of a province of too small importance. Besides, as I said, the AI is terrible at defending islands. And even more terrible when warring for one. I've seen way too many instances of enormous armies being landed on an island just to see them cut off by a superior navy and lose their continental possessions.
Powys, mainly because Wales just feels a bit under powered with just Glamorgan and Gwynedd. I have to rush over to Ireland and start kicking them out for just an extra province.
