Could we please know your opinion about Emperor DLC? Do you find it disappointing? I do hate the HRE/Catholicism changes. Really. Do you think they will fix it in the next DLC/patch?
Emperor? I think it was and still is a mess. Bugs aside, the new mechanics lack polish (Curia Controller is still largely left to RNG, as is the Council of Trent). HRE is still a bad mini-game where you either go all-in on trying to min-max it or just ignore it, with most of its systems not being properly explained in-game and necessitating the player to make plenty of research before trying to become HRE Emperor or pass reforms.
What I like? Well, Theocratic reforms are really, really cool but they also go against their initial design (which was to give them few reform tiers so they would become largely obsolete by mid-game, forcing the player to reform into a monarchy). Instead, now it is a good idea to remain a Theocracy if you are going up against nations that aren't the same faith as you.
Most of the new mission trees are rather cool but some (looking at you Austria and Hamburg) are needlessly complicated and counterintuitive. And missions are still in their infancy (what I mean by that is that we still have difficult missions giving crappy rewards and easy missions giving great rewards, or missions that require you to go out of your way in order to gain basically nothing. And let's not forget how some trees are very generous while others are the opposite of generous).
All in all It could have been great but as it stands it is a mess. I have no hope of it being fixed in the future for the simple reason that EU IV development doesn't seem to be focused on fixing issues, no. Instead what we get is an ever increasing list of issues -- even with the patch that was supposed to fix a whole lot of them (which it did, and in the process introduced a slew of new blatant issues, ironically).
