The issue is that DNA strings are relatively short and it's possible for wife/husband to have a similar one by pure chance:

That DNA string seems to have an effect on cogenital traits as well, at least in my Karen run, making full use of divine marriage (I married sister, daughter, aunt, whoever just had the genius trait, the low marriage pool (Few zoroastrians and can't marry other religions) meant no geniuses otherwise), after a few generation my current ruler made 9 kids, 4 geniuses, 1 inbred, rest normal. Not that I'm complaining, mind you

That was always my reasoning, that Inbred can represent catastrophic birth defects that go beyond Weak or Imbecile.

Is there actually evidence that characters have "genes" in the sense that two unrelated characters could have bad recessive genes that would manifest as the inbred trait? I just assumed when producing children it just gave children an "inbred" value taken from how closely related there parents were and added that with their parents values and used that as the random factor.

Your wife has to be hiding something from you very good then. I mean it seems strange that the child got the inbred trait after all. What is she hiding and why is she hiding it from you. But honestly I would RP it out saying you never trusted your wife again and had her killed because of that mistrust. Turn it into a AAR as well if you want too

Nah. Not going to kill my wife at this point. It's been decades, and besides my Son's set to inherit six county, two Ducal, and three Kingdom titles upon inheritance, and that's on top of the three counties and duchy he already owns.

Not bad for a kid whose father was a duke and mother just had some decent claims to press when he was born. I can forgive a little Lannister liaisons in the wake of what my child (Assuming it is mine, I suppose) is set to inherit.
