A case can be made for Croatian (I've heard Ljubjana was almost like a mini-Vienna). I also recall reading that all possible owners of the Sorbian provinces would get that culture.

Finally, IIRC, Slovak was included in the old Austrian culture set. Obviously some thought should be put into this, as Austrian could theoretically ed up with six cultures, which seems a bit overkill.
I clearly see we use double standards, if austria gets cultures of provinces it owned historically why poland doesnt? for example thorn and elbing have some german culture and poland owned it for 320 years of eu2!!!
imho austria should get only magyar and czech after end of 30-years war, when they actually killed or forced to leave most of czech nobility and put german ones at their places

If we decide to give austria so many cultures why not use the same standard for other countries???? additionally i think austria in claean agceep gets only german, czech and magyar, the best is to keep it this way

Let me give a congratulations to all who have worked on the Ottomans for this mod. Playing as Austria and getting into two scripted wars (1526 and 1540) gave me the most hard-fought victories of my EU career. The first war lasted 6 years and the second 11! I had to cave into the Ottomans during the first war, but finally, after years of slogging got a favorable peace in the second.

Great work!

Some little things I'd like to point out, Kafiristan should be PAGAN Pashtun, not muslim. Also I think we should rename Baluchi to Baloch since well... that's what they're called and Bach Ma should be Hindu Cham and be part of Champa with the capital city being Indrapura since that was only conquered in 1475.

While searching for Ragusan rectors (geez, 4397 between 1440 and 1808), I stumbled upon these events made by Sapphire two years ago. Maybe we could use them?

#Agreement with Ottoman Empire to maintain Dubrovnik's freedom#

OR ={

}

random = no

name = "Agreement with Ottoman Empire to maintain Dubrovnik's freedom"
desc = "With the expansion of the Ottoman Empire's dominion, the armies of Suleyman II stood before the gates of Dubrovnik in 1526. On the strength of old commercial ties, a compromise could be reached with the pragmatic Ottomans who, unlike the Venetian, did not seek any changes in Dubrovnik's concept. With a tribute, Dubrovnik bought herself freedom. Dubrovnik remained a free commercial city and consequently, an advantageous trade outlet for the Ottoman Empire. Ultimately became the commercial gateway between the Orient and Western world"
style = 3

deathdate = { day = 1 month = january year = 1819 }

Action a is very nice and I got the connection with two events which depend on player's choice. Action b is for die-hard player since it will depend on OEis choice.

Naturally, it remove the core province for Ragusa and this will hopefully prevent it from declaring war on it again. Ottoman found very useful that with the connection of Dubrovnik, it got richer and more information as Dubrovnik was the spies for Ottoman

We could name it Rethel. Weren't their counts (or dukes?) potential candidates in some inheritances?

Rethel is a small part of the province, and did not contain it's chief city (Reims).

There's no need to be pedantic.

How am I? It's just incorrect. If we did ahve the whole Ardennes represented, we could change Liége to "Dutch Ardennes" (Belgium never existed at the time, did they?) then add Luxembourg an extra province, called "Luxembourg Ardennes" then we could have Hainaut as "French Ardennes".

Yeah, I thought it was something like that, just a little confused on the wording. As it stands, however, when Austria annexes Bohemia (in either the mid-15th ahistorical version, or the 1526 version) it does NOT get cores on any of the Bohemian vassals (just saying this to help with bugfixing, not as criticism).

Well, Ljubljana is in Slovenia, not in Croatia... and for Little Wiena, Zagreb is sill called that sometimes.

As for giving that culture to Austria is possible, as Austrians were preferred over Hungarians, but it would be an overkill, and a bit ahistorical, as Croatia was a minor partner within Hungary, and even a smaller player within Habsburg empire...

don't know if it has been mentioned, but I think it looks like the city "symbol" of Lorraine is in the other province of Strassburg. :D

I looked all over the internet to learn about the Aromanians (Vlachs) and the most I could gather was that they "might" of been the majority population up in the Pindus mountains in what basically seperates Thessaly/Macedonia from Epirus. As in Asia Minor... even though the slav and albanian (and these Vlach) invasions of the Balkans..the Greeks always fromed the majority on the coastal plains and in the costal cities.

Seem if a province was made between Thessaly and Epirus, representing the Pindus range..the Aromanians could give it their culture..but I dont think we can justify giving all of Thessaly alone Romanian culture.

This article:

http://assembly.coe.int/Documents/WorkingDocs/doc97/edoc7728.htm

does say though, that the Vlachs where in the Orthodox Millet of the Ottoman Empire, contrary to what someone posted a few posts up. And today a "Aromanian" of greece would be deeply offended if someone said they where not Greek. (I suppose the same way a current Pontus muslim Greek would not want to be called a non-Turk... so interesting how cultures and minorities die out over time).

So since we dont have a non costal province that represents jsut the Pindus Mountains..I dont think it is worth it to stretch things with no data and give Thessaly Romanian culture (the Vlachs also resent Romanian past/current efforts in trying to "assimilate" them into Romanian culture). We made a similar ruling with the older map of Asia Minor when the small coastal strips (where the Greeks where the majority) where part of larger provinces that stretched deep inland... with turkish populations that diluted the greek costal population and thus the whole province was represented as Turkish.

Same situation here.

(p.s. having to give Byzantium Romanian culture as a result of the population of the not represented Pindus Mountains is.... off.)

Concerning Ardennes

About Ardennes, please call it Rheims (French spelling) after the biggest city in the region. Ardennes sounds bad. Marne is also a good name for the region after the river.

Excellent! This region of France and the Low Counties looks much better.

Will tibet get a cb on whoever attacks the pope!? :rofl:

In regards to Liege, why was decided to be part of Cologne? Did the bishopirc have close ties with their dukes? If no, perhaps the region be made to represent Limburg (part of Brabant, later Burgundy), or made an independent single province Prince-Bishopirc of Liege.
