So I've been playing the After the End mod, an awesome total conversion mod that's set in post-apocalyptic North America. I began playing as a single county count in California, and somehow managed, by sheer dumb luck, to marry myself to the sister of the King of Gran Francisco, and after a few well placed bribes to the other vassals withing the duchy, managed to force my liege from power via faction demand. During the process of fabricating a claim on the duchy, the King of the Valley-my liege's liege-declared war for my wife's claim on Gran Francisco, and ultimately after killing my brother-in-law on the battlefield and imprisoning my sister-in-law after a siege, my wife became Queen of Gran Francisco, with both my daughter and a son in line to inherit (absolute cognatic elective, I think her kingdom's succession law is, gonna have to do something about that...), and I managed this within a ten year time period!

Now I want to declare independence from the King of the Valley so I can swear fealty to my wife, but when I go to declare independence, my wife doesn't show up as an ally, even though we already have an alliance.

So...I guess she only helps if its an offensive or defensive war? But don't independence wars count as an offensive war? I'm so confused right now. Any help would be appreciated!
