as a bit of a side note, which nation has the most potent generals? if i had to guess, i'd say germany, with 5 or so (i think?) ridiculously good panzer leaders (rommel, guderian, manstein, model, and kleist), 3 good commandoes (student, and the other two i can't remember), and enough skill 4 lt-gens to command nearly the entire starting wehrmacht...

You're right, Germany probably has the most "very good" or potential "very good" generals. However, the US has some very good potentials and late arriving good generals as well. You just have to be more patient. The SU has one of the best generals in the game -General Big mustache - I honestly cannot remember his name - G something.

hey since i got some briliant minds here, maybe u can also tell me how to stop my HOI3 from crashing all the time and not being able to load up again! ! ! its so frustrating and i cant even play past 1941 most of 80% of the time!

For Japan the best General is YAMASHITA with a max skill of 9.

There are plenty with a top skill of 7, but he is the only one better.

Also for Air Leaders for Japan OZAWA is your man with a top skill of 9.

Yes, he starts that way, but remember that each general has a "historical" skill level, and the game will rapidly advance them. This is why Rommel gains experience much faster than say von nobody.
