Need some pro's assistance po favor

I keep my armies in 3 DIV batches, i believe thats called a Corp... is this the best way to keep ur units for efficiency?
Also the HQ division... how many divisions shoul i attache to it and which ones or should i leave it 'standalone' sort of speak?

I really wouldn't call myself a pro but here's what I've got to say

As far as i know divisions being grouped together in 3's, 9's or whatever don't lose any efficiency as long as you keep them under the command limit of the leader assigned to them.

Personally i prefer early on to group them in 3's like you do but after a while you will find yourself with hundreds of divisions to manage and at that stage i generally increase the amount of divisions in my groups. This is also affected by the amount of generals and field marshals that are available in my leader pool.

HQ divisions double the size of the command limit in their province so I generally assign them with any large groups or send them to provinces with a large amount of divisions in them. I don't think it really matters how you assign them its just more how you like to play, as long as you make sure that they are being used effectively and moved to provinces where they are needed (large attacks planned ect.)

HQ's also start out with a slow speed but eventually become very fast units as your land doctrine research increases. So keep that in mind too, as you don't want them slowing down your faster units.

I always like to train my Generals to a higher skill level and starting from the beginning is best. To that end it is always better to assign one general to each division. Experience points are not split between the Generals. Everyone gets a full share that participated in the battle. It also increases your odds dramatically of getting someone a new trait.

It is later in the game when I have my generals trained and promoted up that I will organize into x3 divisions corps and 9 to 12 division armies under the command of a single general.

I micromanage my leaders in order to maximize their skill levels. I actually write out a list of the leaders I will concentrate on. I make the list by checking the leaders file in the DB directory to see what their maximum skill level is and write it down on my list. With land and air leaders when I rename their formations I use the assigned leaders maximum skill level in parenthesis in order to easily check how close he is to being maxed out so I can promote him without wasting experience points when the maximum level is reached. I bring quite a few Major Generals up through the ranks.

I look for situations where I can prolong battles indefinately by continually losing in a situation that cannot hurt my overall game plans in order to get experience points.

I do this with Land, Air, and to an extent Naval Leaders. I do it so painstakingly it is like a game within a game.

In my current game as Japan I have a ton of Leutenent Generals with a 6 skill level and quite a goodly number of Generals with a 6 as well. A few are almost at 7. Actually quite a few were already at 7, but I promotred them to Generals as 7 was their maximum skill level.

In this particular game my pet leader Yamashita with a max skill level of 9 also has x4 TRAITS. I have him at 8 skill with 90 experience points right now. He is a Leutenant General. When he gets to a 9 I will promote him to General. My 2 best Field Marshalls both have skil levels of 5 and x4 traits each. I have at least four others ranging from 3 on up with multiple traits in all but one case. I have at least 8 Generals and at least 4 of them are skill 6. I have at least 16 LT Generals and at least 12 of them have a skill 6 with an Offensive Trait and many of them have 2,3, or even 4 traits.

There are many situations where I assign only one division per leader in order to gain experience for as many of my choice leaders as possible. Sometimes I am not after a choice leader so much as I am after a particular trait. For instance I always make a major effort to train every single Major General with a DEFENCE Trait to at least a skill 3 so I can promote him to a Leutenant General to command a 3 division garrison and defend with the DEFENCE trait and a skill level of at least 2.

If it is a major offensive I don't play arround though. 3 divisions for each of my top leaders which was the reason I did all the work in the first place.

I use single divisions as all nations until late in the game. Even in 44-45 I still have generals "in-training" that I want to promote.

I used to stick to the 3 division unit size but I kind of gave that up in order to maximize my micromanagement of leaders.

I´m a big fan of the 3 Div groups. Groups that size are perfect for most offensive and defensive operations, but yes for big operations groups of 9 - 12 Div are better.

Heh heh by the way 2 Div groups of Cav make good, cheap and ok fast anti partisan troops

In a way it does because you often fight with just 3 divisions and no leaders are higher rank than an LT General. In my current game I had a ton of lower ranked Generals get traits they otherwise would have never gotten because they just happened to be in the battle with one division and were selected as the battle leader. Later those leaders got promoted up to General.

Yamashita is a hell of a general. Even Germany doesn't have a lot of maxskill 9 4-trait generals.

I also put generals into single units early on, but mostly later, I can't be bothered and lump them into groups of 3.

Wow, Tris, that´s awfully much micromanagement. But the result speaks for itself.

I always search for those commanders with two or more traits. Those get a command post even if they start as a level 0 Mj. General. The first two skill levels are so fast it rarely matters to me.
This is surely not optimal (level 0 fortress buster / logistical wizard is *a bit* less effective than a level 2 leader), but for me it's fun.
And I love those offensive/defensive guys. That´s two skill levels for free!

as a bit of a side note, which nation has the most potent generals? if i had to guess, i'd say germany, with 5 or so (i think?) ridiculously good panzer leaders (rommel, guderian, manstein, model, and kleist), 3 good commandoes (student, and the other two i can't remember), and enough skill 4 lt-gens to command nearly the entire starting wehrmacht...

just another question re comanders.... u know how when u add 3 DIV's to a comander and then you get that part appearing in RED and then you have to upgrade the general so that he can take command of 3 DIV's. Is this the thing to do (upgrading him) as his skill then goes down to 0. Or do you leave as is?

Add the commander to the divisions by auto-select, or make sure that your 2+ division units are commanded by Lt. Generals or higher rank rather than Mj. Generals.

If you have any Lt. Generals with the same or higher skill as your Mj. General, use him instead. If you have to promote, the best idea is to promote leaders who have high max skill. This is usually evident by their having traits besides old guard.

The optimal arrangement depends very much on how you play. I tend to have very low combat times in my games and leaders gain relatively little experience. As a result I focus on maximising the gain from existing leader ability. This means that I tend to put good Generals in charge of 9 divisions and so on through the rank structure. The only reason I go below this is to increase force articulation - ie when I need more but smaller forces to carry out manoeuvres.

In case you are wondering about the degree of combat, I usually get circa 35 experience on my top German leaders by the end of Barbarossa.
