After telling the US that I laught at their Monroe Doctrine, I invaded Brazil. Luckly for me I had seized Portugal before, so I could attack from Cape Verde to aboid a HUGE logistic penalty. I landed in Recife and conquered the province.

The surprise came when I went to attack the next province... my troops where considered out of supply, and receiving a -20% penalty! But I had a convoy to Recife (and another one to Cape Verde) with more than enough transports. Despite the penalty, I managed to conquer Brazil. Then, when I went vs Argentina... My logistic penalty was lowed (I had Brazil now as a base), but I had again a -20% out-of-supply penalty!

To solve the problem, I edited a savegame and moved my capital to Recife. I no longer have the penalty... but this seems to be a bug to me. Solutions?

I noticed the same thing when I attack Norway with Germany. It's a pretty serious problem if you're playing on very hard and have a built in 20% penalty and you have another automatic 20% penalty whenever you attack and don't have a land connection to your capital (I assume this is the reason for the penalty based on your post.) I was having a serious problem defeating Norweigian units even when I outnumbered them and attacked from two directions - those two penalties, along with terrain and bad weather penalties, not to mention night penalties, really add up.

Edit: Is there a reason for this penalty? I am guessing that it was deliberately programmed in this way, but I don't really see the logic for it, especially now with logistics distances added in. It seems like Japan would be totally screwed if they get a 20% penalty for any attack except on the home islands.

there is a huge problem with supply and logistics if you are not able to attack from nearby OWNED ( annexed = territory. mil. access, captured etc... don´t work. probably will this resolved in 1.06 revision ( i hope ).

also the supply source will not be updated unless you move your units onto OWN territory - noticed that with german units in the near east ( before i didn´t annexed a country - i believe it was syria - i got no supply from the nearby provinces that i captured )

you must move all your units to the annexed lands otherwise - you get the penalty which is quite severe. how realistic is that ?

Actually, my problem is that my troops are attacking from a OWNED province. I annexed Brazil so their provinces are owned, now. Despite that, and despite having 100 transports sending supplies and oil to Recife, my troops receive the "out-of-supply" penalty when attacking Argentina, unless I move my capital to Brazil. (The "logistic distances" penalty is very small, since Brazil is owned).

Thanks :)

I'm not very sure about the conditions. What I've told is a game with Rep.Spain, and when fighting in Africa I have no problems (maybe because I've national provinces there?)

I think also that the logistic penalty issue should be changed a bit. You should be able to trace a route from any province, owned or controlled, with a Resource Poll. otherwise conquering the USA is an impossible task for Japan or Germany. But that should be a topic for another thread...
