What is the point of toll booths? To bring in a profit from traffic passing through them, obviously. Right now I have six of them in my city, all strategically placed on busy highways or arterial roads. I thought I could rake in some extra cash with them, but then I did the math:

Maintenance cost of all toll booths = $960
Income from all toll booths = $440
Total profit: MINUS $520!!!

I'm actually losing money from toll booths, which completely defeats the purpose of them. The only thing they accomplish is slow traffic and drain my coffers. I tried raising the toll on each one, but it's still not enough to offset maintenance costs. Is anyone else having this problem?

Just put one on the entrance/exit to you city then you will make a bit but its not very profitable, not on a modest city of 35k its not... about 400 a month...

I think you misinterpreted that. Toll booths can deter traffic, but their main function is to make money. I'm not seeing that in the game.

In all fairness, in real life, they’re used to do both.
