We've reworked lighting, and yes there are several different visual styles/overlays you can use (accessible in the settings menu so nothing complicated).

Our goal is also to have as much of this as possible open to modding so users can find the style they like the most :)

Great! I'am happy :)

I also like the older pictures, but like the glass(blue) buildings as well. I feel that we should have all these styles and colors mixed. Gives it a varying look. But yes how about brick buildings or a white building.

About the cars, I feel it can be any color, but yes a few more grey and white cars maybe.

You can still not replicate how it used to look, though. At least not yet.

Hmm I love the previous art-style but looking at the screenshots from the current dev-diary everything seems way to bright and shiny, I don't know how to explain it.. almost as if everythings looking futuristic, blues and whites - pure colors... maybe a few screenshots will quell our worries ;)

This is so awesome!

Seriously, who thinks of stuff like this? I've never heard of a game that allows you to customize on so many levels!

I prefer the older more "worn" look as a general cast for a large city. But I'd rather see a nice sunny day for a little happy neighborhood.

Perhaps you could use the lighting as one way of indicating the city's vibe. So if the city is not doing too well, the lighting is more morose and washed out. When the citizens are happier, the lighting becomes brighter and crisper. Adding parks and trees and clean-air ordinances make the city feel more upbeat, while allowing more industries and higher buildings seem to make the city more gothic...

Oh no, I wouldn't like that at all. The sun doesn't change the color or intensity of its light according to what's going on in London. I have no objection to a smoggy haze for pollution on the other hand.

Well, we have seen the latest trailer, and the lighting seemed good in it. Maybe not as good as before, but definitely what I like more.

Somewhere between october 2014 and december 2014, developers drastically changed the game looks. Cities now look much different to how they looked in earlier screenshots.

Here's only one example:

mjnsdQJ.jpg

Well, somewhere between October and December 2014, it became a "no sale" for me *IF* it keeps that simplistic blue look to the game. That's not a look, that's simply an untextured nightmare IMHO. It needs to revolve more around the look in Oct than what is shown in the screenshots above for December. Even SC13 (and I despised that game for it's shortcomings) looked more interesting than the blue hue that is December 2014.

I hope it was just one of the possible looks and that we can and will be able to view the game more as Oct 2014.
