Hi. I am playing as Sardinia-Piedmont, and conquered Modena to get access to an iron producing province. I produce 16 units of iron, but none of my factories get any of it, instead it is sold on the world market (and I don't have enough prestige to get prioritized there). What can I do to remedy this?

Are you SURE it is being sold on the world market and not simply SOLD on your internal market, I.E your factorys are buying it FROM your RGO internally?

Set to manually buy a certain amount and stockpile the rest for your factories, then set to allow factories to buy from your stockpile (providing you are producing enough for them).

Your factories have the BUY the Iron, your iron miners don't just give it away. Prestiege doesn't matter, you always get first dibs on stuff you produce, if the factories aren't buying it they cannot afford it.

I am sure they need iron, and I subsidize all my factories. They don't get what they need of iron, but they get most of their other inputs.

What can I do to make them buy iron? My steel factory, for instance, worked fine for a while with huge profits (steel was and is in high demand).

Also, if I set buy or sell orders for my stockpile, the stockpile does not change from 0.

Edit: In addition, the tooltip says "there is not enough iron on the market to satisfy factory needs". This is clearly false. I export 16 units of iron every day! (or is it month? anyway not the point)

Is your national stockpile slider low? At zero, you don't buy anything. But this shouldn't affect the factories, but it could be an explanation to the buy/sell orders.

No, it is maxed.

Make sure the automate box is unchecked and that it is set to BUY and not SELL, then move the slider to a desired number, click purchase and then make sure you have the option enabled allowing your own POP's to buy from your national stockpile.

As i said before tho it sounds like it is working as intended, your factorys must be buying the iron from the RGO and then working the iron into steel which is either selling or not.

I did all that, and it did not work as intended.

However, when I researched clean coal, all started working well again. This tech changes iron output from iron mines. It is very strange, because it doubled the iron production, but iron availability for my factories went from 0 to about 50% of their needs.

Have you/the capitalists built a lot of railroads? The same happened to me as Sweden, right after I issued production of railroads over the entire country -2 states.

I think you must ensure that your factory will be subsidized manually so that it get enough money to fulfill the requirements as I understand.
Sometimes you could have a problem with getting enough workers for your factory so it will be necessary to support your factories in the state by focussing on craftsmen with a NF.
Only my sixpence...

Rememer that not only factories demand iron, artisans and building development too, and i assume for my demo experience that iron is distributed between demandants.

I have this problem aswell, with 2 countries (Sweden and Netherlands)
Both times my Factories and I couldn't buy the Iron produced in my country.
This problem appeared when i get into the sphere. I think the sphere leader with more prestige then I just bought all my iron... What to do now? My factories dont work without iron.

If you're in a sphere of influence, it's possible that others in the sphere have higher prestige than you, and get first pick on your iron. However, unless the price mechanism has been changed since the dev diaries, supply and demand will get into balance eventually and you'll get your iron. The price of iron will keep rising until it is so.
