I uad this happen once. I had to run the fleet into the home system if a Fallen Empire. Their fleet and defense stations killed enough of my ships that the fleet became visible again. After that, I never put so many ships together in 1 fleet again. I am pretty sure the problem is with the number of ships. After I stopped using corvettes and destroyers in the late game, this problem never happened again.

But DDs and corvettes make a great screen to absorb damage from FE fleets while my BG/BBs and CC/CGs hammer them from afar. My most recent battle w/ a FE fleet resulted in the loss of almost 100 corvettes, a few DDGs, a couple CGs, and no BBs.

I run an i5 6600k OC'd to 4.4Ghz (which hillariously benches on par w/ an i7 in single core and multicore tests) w/ a GTX 1070 and the game still lags for me but not as bad as 2fps...but probably 15-20. Definitely works my machine.

Curious how it would run on an 8c/16t i7 or Ryzen system.

dunno how they'd go abouit it but yeah, right now - ship spamming is the way to go, and it's been that way since the start. And the thing that really takes the cake is that there's literarily no reason to evrer split your armies.
Unlike EUIV - where in end game you may want to split your armies into 2 doomstacks or more (and only combine once in a while on a really big battle but mostly at that time, you can actually fight on multiple fronts and be effective)

But in Stellaris? One, big, massive, fleet. Or else you're putting yourself at a strict disadvantage. Meaning most wars end up being one big clash of ships. Which is, fairly sad. I mean, early on it makes sense, you've each got like 3-5 systems so it makes sense. But when both empires have about 20+ systems it seems... like the war should end up being a variety of fights - and not just one big battle. Again, I have no idea how to "fix it" but it's a.. It's definitly a big problem IMO.

Meh, number of ships per fleet should be linked to the commanding officer skill imho and when there's no CO present should be a fixed value size.
This should present more tactical options, and less B's related to total naval cap

I had this issue once. Use the hotkey to split fleets. I forget what it is, but there is one. The hotkey worked.

Also, as proof that the game is poorly optimized sometimes, I found that 2 smaller fleets actually let the game run faster than 1 large one, even when they add up to the same size. So, split it into 2 or 4 fleets and see if the game doesn't just run better overall.

The key is V I found out after I posted this thread and had to split the fleet four times to get the control panel back.

The issue isn't graphical - ok the FPS is poo at all times with a big fleet but when I de-select them in sytem it's ok. Its the fleet control panel when you click the fleet that REALLY farks the game up - even if you're out of system in gal view and click them.

CRAPPY bug to have considering all the time this game has been out now.
