I wanted to say thank you to the devs for a great game. I had an epic start right next to a derelict ring world. Needless to say this hyper-charged my early engineering research and enabled rapid expansion. Currently the WiH kicked off and I am the leader of the Non-Aligned stuck right between the two Awoken Empires. My fleet strength is only about 30% of the fleet strength of one of the Awoken Empires. After facing them in battle I realize I should have annihilated the fallen as soon as I was able rather than let them awaken. It is a fantastic challenge that I'm looking forward to facing. So again, thank you for the great game!

There is one issue I wanted to mention and it relates to the strategic fleet movement AI. It gas been documented elsewhere but the presence of ANY combat fleet in an AI empire causes the empires ENTIRE fleet to stop what they are doing elsewhere to hunt it down. As such I have been successfully kiting an awakened empire 270k fleet plus following transport fleet through their empire for over a year with a 90 fleet containing a SINGLE corvette optimized for speed and it appears they will keep at it forever. This is a massive exploit, potentially unique to Awoken Empires, because as far as I can tell they don't use FTL magnets on their stations. The easy answer would be to give their stations FTL magnets but I would hope the AI in general would be improved to evaluate enemy fleet strength in comparison to the strength of the fixed defences.

I mostly noticed the AI would chase my transports wherever they go inside their borders. So i figured i could just make a stack of cheap transports to lure the AI fleets wherever i want (not just FE/AE).

Sounds like you had a great game.

Maybe don't exploit the AI in such a way. I'm sure in time it will be fixed, but to give yourself an even greater challenge and perhaps more rewarding game don't resort to gamey tactics like this in order to win.

I also had a great war and battle in a WiH. I ended up quiting as my losses were simply to great and I could never recover. Basically I was surrounded on all sides by picking the closest AFE to me so I could be in the thick of the action, I sure was. After 5 years of running around crushing smaller fleets from the AI empires all around me I massed my fleet of 140k, had a few minor AI fleets help me 20k each and engaged the main stack of 280k AFE fleet. In the end I won with 100k of losses to my fleet and the Awakened empire entire fleet was toasted. I also restarted as the game lag was to much, 2000 systems with the entire galaxy at war really slowed it down to a crawl. It would have taken me 10 years to rebuild just my fleet with every resource I could muster. I lacked the strength to take the fight to the enemy as his fortress would waste my remaining fleet.

In my new game I have had a great start, good expansion, lots of good events and anomalies, setting me for long fun game. I am also playing on insane, high aggression, 6 Fallen empires, advanced AI's. One thing I learnt on insane, make sure your diplomacy is good, get those research agreements and defensive pacts, Saved my bacon a few times.

it is the same for every AI, you can keep their fleet busy with a single corvette, for decades if you like, its not only Awoken FE

with this you can lead their fleet far away from their borders and then just be quick to crush their planets with the half of their fleetpower, on harder gameplays their is often no way arround this, as they often have that much more ships even if they have much lesser planets..

example, insane difficulty, my chosen war target had 1 planet, i had 4 with t3 spaceport, t2 spaceport, t1 spaceport and none spaceport, my fleet cap was arround 35 and i had to face the enemy fleet more than 50 corvettes, to "exploit" the mechanics was the only way to overwhelm the AI

i can show you the whole war in a video i put on youtube

The whole awoken empire seems buggy to me, atleast in my current game.

I spawned close to them and after wiping out my southern neighbours and consolidating my empire i set my eyes on the now isolated keepers of knowledge. Only to have them awake and jumping from equivilant to superior in fleet str (i was rocking 150k) They soon after declared war after i denied becoming thier satelite. The problem was they never even left thier territory, after sending in scout fleets after 5 years i found out they had a fleet of 300k, nearly doubling my own. The problem was they kept sending the 300k fleet in stacks of 100k after my scouting corvette inside thier territory. And i was quickly able to wipe out thier homeworlds and blockade thier planets for a quick whitepeace.
