I need to sleep in order to be fit for tomorrow hard day at work but i downloaded the demo and play a little bit...

It looks nice and it semms it will be complicate to learn all the details of the game, but it is probably the reason why a year have 365 days. :)

Technically i have a 3 Ghz processor with 2 Go of Ram and a Sapphire 4850 GC from ATI and it works without lags. Ouf! :) I mention that, because some complained about ATI GC and mine have no problem at all.

Now some critics::mad:

I should say I'm totally confused by all these HQ on the map. In a future patch something should be done visually to make a clear difference between different HQ level. Perhaps the counters can have different colors to differenciate the different levels, or the name "HQ" on counter could be different, like T-HQ for theater HQ, A-HQ for Armies HQ...

The guys from PI have still a lot of work on the map. There is a lot of strange things like a kind of square between the provinces of Bremen and Oldenburg in Germany. At the frontier between Holland and Germany a lot of graphical strange things or missing red lines...I wil not mention all of them, it would be too long.

It looks like not all the name of province are displayed automatically. When the palyer is at the zoom level where he can see the province names, some names are not displayed, when clicking on the province, the bug does not occurs...

I'm not realy convinced by the music of the game. I suppose I will -like with HoI2- play while listening the radio... I don't thing the music is bad. Just it will be too repetitive and give me some headaches ;-)

I'm sure PI will patch us these game and the demo is just a possibility for us to have a look...

Game soundtracks always gets repetitive after a while. That's when your music collection shows up! Open Winamp, put some Wagner or Beethoven better yet Bruckner and enjoy! :)

If you're using sprites the number of stars above the HQ's head shows his level, if you're using counters the number of Xs on the counter show the level. xxx = corps, xxxx = army etc.

:-/ I saw that, but I'm still confused.

How can I reorganize all the hierarchy in my armies?

I guess it takes a bit of getting used to, but once you know what to look for it's pretty clear:
command.jpg

As you can see here, I have a division selected. Above its name all the units higher it in the hierarchy are listed. You can click on their names to jump to them.

If I had a higher level unit selected then then all the units directly below it would be listed under it's unit box and they'd also be highlighted on the map.

So any unit you select shows it's superiours about it and it's subordinates below it, and you can click on their names to jump to them.

As well as that, if you open the outliner (+ sign at top right) you'll see your theatres listed. If you click the + by them a tree view of your hierarchy will grow out from them.

thx for your answer, but I would rather had something more. Like a small sign in the high- left corner of the counter, not to have to count the small cross on teh top of the counter... something more visual. But no worry I think I will adapt to the new system. But I did still not understood how to create my how hierarchie tree from zero/how to cancel the existing one...

Back in 2006 I tought alot about HOI II HQ-s and proposed HQ and field command system simillar to this we have in our game now.http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=256801
I visualised back then how this could work and noted possible problems you noted.

I proposed that implementation of HQs on a levels of command should , for simplicity of use, be acompanied with mods of map representation of HQ-s.

I proposed that game should alllow for player to by clicking on "command zoom" choose what levels of HQ-s will map show.Simply click show only Army group HQ-s, than only Army/Corps level HQ-s, or all HQ-s.

I had a feeling,as I feel now ,that HQ levels with "command zoom" should be inseparable parts of such concept.

you picture proves the point that nothing is clear. For Christs sake you cant even see which unit you selected on the map... the edge is exactly the same colour as the icon - which really one doesnt have time to look at when you have 300 units on the map.................

Could it be possible to add a map mode, where the player can write, like using a paint document. This could be added in transparency to an another map mode. I could make circle around some units, draw arrows for planification of attacks. This could be a kind of tool, with no influence on the game (if I draw a arrow, it does not creat an attack....)

I think in this way it could be clearer with all this HQ. I would make a draw around a Army HQ and all attached units...

hum... brainstorming hum...

He is pointing to the right corps, he selected a division, which is to the right of it.
I agree on the point that it is hard to see. I suggest it should completly change it's appearance by either going lighter or darker when selected

My first minutes.

I chose France and about 3 hours into the game Germany attacks the Maginot line in a spot where I only had one understrength division. AI sure seems to have gotten a lot more opportunistic.

Huh? It's easy to see what divison you have selected, it "glows", but of course you can't see that in a picture. You can also see the red arrow coming off my division as it attacks Poland.

my point being that its not clear enough esp with so many icons flashing around. Sure I can spot it if i spend enough time, but we are to make the UI friendly no? Seems other people also see this as a problem note the huge ammount of posts on this subject. Why is everything in the same colour scheme? It should be - bang - this is what you chose this is what you need and want so here it is clearly.
