One of the best things about this game is being able to make your own races/empires. Since making some new games and races in Heinlein, I realised I really wanted some more custom made species to encounter. The community collab has lots of great entries, but after so much has changed - reworked governments, new worlds, new portraits, reworked traits - it's pretty outdated. I made some myself, but making truly original and creative ones is hard work by yourself, so since we have such a creative community here, I thought I'd ask for a swap - I'll post some of the species I made for you, and in return you post some of yours for me. If you have way too many that's ok, just post your favourites or what you think is your best. I just have 2 requests:

1) Please NO silly races. I have a sense of humour just like the rest of you, but if you have a silly or joke design I'd prefer they got their own thread. Cute race portraits are fine but empires called things like, "Interstellar Love Boat" are silly.

2) NO human races. In the community collab it seemed like every other entry was a different take on humanity. I only have 1 earth in my galaxy, so 20 different humans won't help diversify much. If you really want to share yours, make a new thread and I'll be happy to share mine too. HUMANOIDS are ok to share, so long as they don't use earth as their start location.

I do not own leviathans or plantoids at this time but please feel free to upload races made with them anyway.

One last note, I am a bad speller. If you are a grammar nazi be prepared to proofread all of my race descriptions. I know, I'm sorry. :(

Alright, let's get started:

On a world where any day could be your last, survival of the fittest became not just a belief - but the Vor Ghan way of life. As such, war is not fought out of hatred or moral imperative, but simply because the weak exist to provide for the strong. \"Mercy\" is a concept they do not understand - predators do not show mercy to prey - and as they expand into space, the entire galaxy will either prove itself a predator, or become prey."

Might as well share almost of dozen of my creations You may need to redesign their flags because I use mods for those. There are also quite some references hidden, but I consider none of those empires "silly":

Their nations were controlled, no comprised, of several massive corporations, the largest of which was Zora, which bought out the species a ew decades ago. Writing compelling narratives is difficult, otherwise I'd share the ones I have. :)

ps. you can use spoiler tags to wrap around the code and pictures, in order to minimize the enormous size of your post.

I've made a dozen or so, but these four are hands down my favorites (take note of flag design, I'm very proud of flag design!):

1) The Kalthar Republic

C5AD3B03C5E6C12E74B2BB48964F728B0D9EA270

Probably my favorite creation. Role playing with these guys is particularly fun.

Their flag represents the difficulty and hardship the Kalthar are willing to overcome in order to champion liberty in a dangerous and cold cosmos.

Their home star is named "The Senate"

Their play style is to conquer as many people as possible and bring them into the fold of the Republic for the sake of Democracy.

2) The Immutharan Fist

BDE2E21513C721C62C10B46B818311AD1702C4DA

I had a lot of fun with these guys. Everything about them turned out perfectly.

Their flag represents well ... the fist of the Immutharan, and the violent nationalistic fascism they use to prop it up. The Immutharan Fist are the ultimate bad guys.

Their home star is named "Heart of Iron"

Their play style is to purge anything that won't be happily enslaved. Spare nobody from the Immutharan Fist.

3) The Tulgan Republic

F06B88DD9CEC7E5CC9994DC084A45A1BC201C2E4

I made these guys in order to initially prove how strong their ethics / trait build is. Their color theme and lore turned out fantastic.

Their flag represents the wise guidance of the Tulgan Republic, determining when two planets should interact, and when they should not mix plant life, for this is deemed heretical to the Tulgans.

Their home star is named "The Court of Rapture"

Their play style is to get as large as you can in whatever way you want. Pump out happiness buildings from xenophobe + individualist for MASSIVE happiness, and science buildings for MASSIVE science.

4) The Concord

B9F0161956CCD65C839780CF9B4B935688CBC821

I designed these guys entirely around their play style of choice.

Their flag represents the light of the Concord - service to the religious heed of the Concord valued above all other Birthani concerns.

Their home planet was renamed from its original, natural name when the Concord won their post-FTL civil war.

Their home star is named "Seat of the Concord"

Their play style is to liberate and vassalize EVERYBODY, bringing them into the fold of the Concord in united worship. Slavery and purgery of heretics is necessary, of course.

A useful source of inspiration I've found is to look up AI personalities and try to build a custom empire for each.

Here are some:

capitalists.JPG

Capitalists that will exploit every habitable world and will not take "no" for an answer.

harmonious_collective.JPG

Harmonious collective that seeks to protect itself. Defensive and little interest in non-desert planets.

slavers.JPG

Slavers. Repugnant+Xenophile: They like having alien slaves, but the slaves are not going to like it.

xeno_isolationist.JPG

Xenophobe isolationists, who do not much like each other either. "Get off my spore field!" is going to be yelled a lot.

Some great entries, please add the code so I can save them! To do so, go to your empires folder in:

documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/user_empire_designs

and then select "insert code" and copy/paste everything between the brackets.

I would love to save some of these so they spawn in my games.

And the Screkli inspired me to create another take on "galactic vermin":

swarm.JPG

F. Individualist, Pacifist - they should have free migration and seek migration treaties. Also these ethics have the tools to keep their negative traits in check.
Adaptive, Nomadic and Rapid Breeders - they will move to other empires.
Repugnant, Deviant and Rapid Breeders - other empires will be sorely tempted by the Purge button.
Also wormhole FTL as that often results in far flung colonies.

Here's my additions, in my universe the once was three major galactic powers; The Grand Republic, The Haskall Allegiance and The Forgotten ones (haven't started on the HA or the FO yet). lore wise a great, apocalyptic scenario happened to the Grand Republic, the Forgotten ones and the Haskall Allegiance basically sent each other back to the stone age. At this point all the races from these three empires have started to comeback to the galactic scene, along with new players.

Yes I know they are humans, but you should be fine because they don't use the Sol system.

To use the code you need the warpaints mod and more trait points(both of those mods) to use them.

The second ship was drifting through open space, and was quickly pulled in by a far more advanced alien space station. These cruel aliens experimented on and enslaved the humans, treating them as subsentient, and moved them all to small desolate planetary testing facility. These aliens then found themselves at war with their enemies, who wiped them out completely and did not take notice of the humans. Left humiliated and terrified, they reverse engineered the remains of their once-overlords, and made it their goal to never have the human species be enslaved again."
