I am going to do an AAR on Eire and its going to be a bit like a short novel. I have the beggining and i just want you guys to read the first couple of chapters and tell me what you think so far. Its not about the actual EU game yet but a family that lives in the time preceding 1492. Tell me what you think. Ill get to the actual EU part and mix it in with this families life in the next couple of chapters. Here it goes:

( 1485, Kilrush, Ireland )
Chapter 1

I awoke with the cool breeze from the great river Shannon in my face. A smile crossed my face as I remembered that my Father, an influential soldier under Colonel Bedford, would be crossing that very river today to come back home. I thought about his arrival here in a few hours and how happy my mother will be to see him after the many months of travel he had endured. Then my brother, Scott, came in the room and told me that mother wanted me to go eat breakfast and help her fix a decent meal for father when he arrived in a few hours. I sprung out of my bed with enthusiasm to get ready to see my Father. I came into the kitchen and saw my mother.
“Good Morning Thomas. Come here and eat some breakfast.” She said with a much happier mood than other mornings.
“Good Morning Mum.”
I ate a good breakfast of Porridge which was very hot but good all the same. While I was eating my mother stood looking out the window at the beautiful river that was Shannon.
“Mum, May I Go Swimming?” Scott, who had been eating porridge with me asked.
“You may.”
“And I?” I enviously asked.
“No Thomas. You will stay here and help me fix some stew and mutton for your father when he arrives.”
“Please Mum?” I pleaded.
“No. Now come here and cut these potatoes.”
I obeyed and was occupied with tedious womanly chores until Scott came back and told us he saw boats on the horizon. We anxiously ran outside and saw the small black specks out in the distance. We all ran back into the house and hurriedly finished making Supper before Father came. When we finished we watched the magnificent blue water sweep the ships closer and closer until we could see the faces of the soldiers. I was the first to see my father. He was dressed in a typical soldier uniform with an unshaven face and a huge smile to see his home again. The ship docked and he jumped out along with his fellow patriots and he came running toward us and us to him. His outstretched hands caught us and gave us all big hugs and kisses. Finally my father was home….

Chapter 2

We ate supper and talked of the adventures that my father had had fighting with the English troops and getting the Irish clans together again. He talked of armies that stretched as far as oceans, huge ships sailing far away oceans that I had never heard of, and cannons shooting like the very thunder from the sky. I was very interested in all he had to say for I too wished to become a soldier, but doesn’t every boy? Then my mum said it was time to go to bed but my father kept telling us stories for another half an hour or so. Then we reluctantly went to bed. Scott and I talked deep into the night about what our father had told us. By dawn we were convinced there was nothing better than being a soldier.
I was awakened by the heavy rain beating down on my window. I went to the kitchen to find my parents eating a breakfast of bread, cheese, and coffee and looking out the window at nothing in particular. They heard me walking on the old wooden floor and told me that we were going to have a talk as a family. I didn’t understand. We all sat down at the rotting wooden table that was older than any of us. Scott and I couldn’t understand the sad looks on our parent’s faces. How could they be sad after the amazing reunion we had had yesterday. After we had settled down and eaten breakfast my father started the meeting:
“We have to move away from here and go south to the great city of Cork. You children will like it there. It is not safe here anymore. The British are moving in from the North and our Irish armies can’t take them much longer. They will soon be here at this very river.”
Me and my brother had heard of Cork but never imagined moving from here. It had been our home since we were born. We couldn’t move. We belonged here.
“Everyone must get packed soon. We are leaving today because the English will be here by nightfall. They were following our boats yesterday. Moving is the only option. Now go pack.” The news was tragic and terrifying but no one had anything to say because of the tone in my father’s voice.
Me and Scott went to our room and packed all we had into a wooden crate and said goodbye to our sweet home. Then we left our beautiful river and our picturesque spot in the rural areas of Ireland for the clamored, terrible, smelly city streets of Cork.
The Journey was very uncomfortable. We were all stuffed into one Jaunting Car with our entire luggage. When riding off we saw the specks on the horizon that were the very ships that my father had spoken of last night, which seemed many months ago. We saw a fire in the distance and in the direction of the river after riding for several more hours and knew they had burn our house down. We could see the anger pulsing through my father’s face and we knew that this journey would not be a happy one. INTRODUCTION

After we reached the city of Cork my father went back into the army and never came back home after leaving to fight the English we had run away from. I swore one day I would get my revenge. Me and Scott grew up in Cork but never forgot the river and old life we had left behind. My mother was a depressed woman after the death of my father and she passed away 4 years afterwards. Scott and I were left alone with only each other to count on and trust. We were 18 and 21 years old. We had no way to get food and after many weeks of eating nothing substantial we decided to turn to a life of crime and steal food and money from the people who needed it less that we did. We lived this way for many years. It was not a lifestyle we enjoyed. We had nowhere to go at night and we were always scared that we were caught when someone asked us for the time or something of the sort. One night we were caught by the police with some noble lady’s purse. We couldn’t go peacefully because we knew we would be killed and I had not yet avenged my father’s death so we killed the guard. The next day we were arrested by several guards and taken to the rulers of Eire for our certain death sentence.

(1490, Wexford, Eire )
We were pushed into the main room of this castle where sat several fat, bearded, angry men who were the rulers of Eire. It made us wonder about how powerful our country actually was. There was one man at the head of the table who seemed to be the ruler of these nasty men. He looked as though he had some sense and compassion.
“What are your names your filthy beggars?” He asked.
“I am Thomas O’Brien and this is my brother Scottie.” I answered quickly.
“You killed one of our guards I hear. You know the punishment is death, don’t you?” He mocked us.
I thought it best not to answer and just look at the ground in shame as did my brother.
“Answer me you scoundrel beggars!”
“I am no beggar! My father was a great soldier for your armies and we only wanted to live to avenge his death and kill some English and that is why we killed your guard!” These words erupted out of my mouth like a volcano and I was expecting to be killed on the spot, but instead the man smiled.
“Let me discuss your future with these other chiefs.” He answered.
They talked for a few hours and We sat and waited for our death sentence. The man who appeared to be the leader raised his head and spoke:
“We have decided that you and your brother would make very good advisors to us in these hard times. You will live here in the castle and be fed the best food and given the best wives for your services. The guards will escort you to your new quarters.”
We were shocked. We were royal advisors.

moreChapter 1: 1492 – 1510 Growing and Developing Eire

For two years we settled down in the castle and got used to the life of royalty but did not let it corrupt our minds like it had the other chiefs. After several years of fighting the English we were finally our own country but were split into many different clans and the English still owned the “Pale” or the area around Dublin. The Day before New Year 1491 the head chief, Robbie O’coherty, called a meeting to which my brother and I were invited. We discussed our present situation and our plans for the next few years.
“Welcome Rulers of Eire. I have called this meeting to decide what our goal for the next few years will be, but first let me tell you our current situation. We are currently a vassal of the damned Englishmen and have an army of six thousand infantry and one thousand cavalry. Our nation is not a stable nation at all and we are far behind our friends the French in research. We have one colonist and all our cities except the capitol have less than one thousand people. We cannot send merchants to foreign trade centers because of our lack of Science. Frankly gentlemen, things don’t look good.”
I had always believed that we Irishmen were powerful and that was why I was so patriotic. Now I knew we had to pull this nation out of the dust and give its people some hope for the future so I spoke.
“Sir, our current situation is rather pitiful, but that should only give us inspiration to grow and prosper in the next few years. I suggest that we do not have any wars for as long as it takes to get this country back to an acceptable status. Becoming friends with the countries that are powerful in Europe is something we must do to survive if the English invade us. We also must invest heavily in trade and infrastructure. Our Merchants are useless sleeping here in the castle as are our diplomats. We must hope that in the next few years we will have gathered the necessary resources to fight the English and their alliance because we have no alliance and cannot until our vacillation with England is broken. Also, the French are our very good friends as is the rest of their alliance. We must take advantage of this friendship and join their alliance as soon as we finish our war with the English. The Scots would make amazing allies against the English as would the French.” I had finished talking. At first there was silence, then murmurs or agreement and nods of heads, then a statement by the O’Coherty:
“O’Brien, you are right about everything you have said. We will do as you say. Thank you very much and I can tell you will be a great help to Eire in this time of trouble.” With this he left the room and my new life as an important man had begun.

I've been reading it - there just didn't seem to be much to say about it. Although I, too, have abandoned AARs because nobody was giving any feedback, so I know how you feel.
