As a loyal Capellan, I am required to throw plates at you now.
Congratulations!
Greetings Mechwarriors, fellow forumites and dear HBS developers.
I mentioned this a while back before PDX-Con Berlin, something pretty important happened to me in October, and since I know a couple of you guys even from the old forums, where you gave me a digital home I loved to be I need to share something with you.
In Summer 2017 - shortly after the Backer Beta started and we were creating the awesome Beta Scenarios some of you may fondly remember - real world me met the most beautiful and sweetest girl I could ever imagine. And now, it's almost a month that this girl is my sweet and beautiful wife.
Now those of you familiar with Battletech history should took notice, that I am German and she is an English girl, so it actually is a true Steiner-Davion marriage. And while I have seen no way to include my obsession with something as obscure as Battletech into our cermony on October the 19th ( we decided for a wedding cake from a wider known franchise), I managed to have her make a special cake for our wedding at the registry office a week earlier.

And as for the cake my then-fiance made herself, guess which piece I took:

So, you're a Battle-tech & Doctor Who fan? That makes you doubly awesome in my books. Congrats to you both
.
Thank you everybody for your kind words!
Oh, and by the way: @HBS_HighCommand In the months long preparation for our big day, I took an advice to heart I learned from you. No, not the one about focus. "Perfect is the enemy of good enough!" Yeah, I know it's allegedely from Voltaire, but I heard it first in one of the Q&As and immediately recognized them as wise words. If everything needs to be perfect, nothing will ever be good enough.
So instead of aiming for the perfect wedding I tried to make everything as good as I really wanted it to be. Which reduces the stress of the preparations sooo much. And in the end it turned out to be perfect anyway.
Thank you for that!
This reminds me of the advice a friend of mine got 20 years ago at his wedding that he passes on to others before their big day:So instead of aiming for the perfect wedding I tried to make everything as good as I really wanted it to be. Which reduces the stress of the preparations sooo much. And in the end it turned out to be perfect anyway.
As an aside, the best parenting advice I ever got was from my big sister: She told me to just put the words "Good enough parent" on a post-it on the fridge. Perfect indeed is the enemy of good enough.Thank you everybody for your kind words!

I’m finding that this is also good advice. As an aside, the best parenting advice I ever got was from my big sister: She told me to just put the words "Good enough parent" on a post-it on the fridge. Perfect indeed is the enemy of good enough.
