For a while now (several months) I've been unsuccessful in importing my models into the game. It had worked out well for me during the beta, nearly a year ago, but upon the game's release I just haven't had any luck with my own custom assets. Recently, I had overcome many of these bugs and was able to get my models to display in the game (previously, they would only work in the asset editor).

The model I want to plop is a guide sign, and is placed in the intersections menu. I clicked the item in the menu, it came up on screen where my cursor is, ready to be plopped, but upon clicking the button to plop the sign, nothing happened. The space was left blank. It's not as if the model plopped and nothing was there visually; I tried bulldozing that area. It's as if I never clicked the mouse button to plop the sign in the first place.

I could really use some help here. These sorts of issues have frustrated me for the longest time, and I can't see why this is going on. As I had said, everything worked out alright in the beta days, I see no reason why it should change. My workflow using 3dsMax, Sketchup or a combination thereof is the same as what's shown in many how-to videos. Below is a picture of the model I am trying to plop:

In the above screenshot, the sign is "hovering" with the cursor, as it does before you chose a location to plop it.
