My Count Has No Surname

I started in 1066 as Count of Dublin, but none of the men in my family seem to have a surname. Perhaps this is why the game keeps crashing? Their wives seem to have the surname O'Brien (or O Briain, can't remember whether the game uses English or Irish form) but the men have first names only.

I loaded the game and for me the Count of Dublin and his son have Ui Mórdha (or something like that) as surnames. I think it wouldn't be bad idea to try to reinstall the latest patch.

Then for some odd reason, you are part of the "Noname" Family. I have seen them as far south as Savoy and Bavaria, but never had the pleasure of playing them.

Treat the lack of a last name as a unique last name. Alternately, you can edit the save file and add the Irish clan name of your choice.

This is with the latest patch. Has the problem arisen because nobody could decide whether to make the counts of Dublin Irish or Norwegians, I wonder?

I found out why: he is assigned to a non-existant dynasty - 101674.

Which might be due to an erroneous installation of the patch, which happens from time to time. Perhaps programs in the background while extracting or whatever.

when you say latest patch do you mean 1.o4a or do you mean the latest beta just cause my dynasties.txt stops at

This is a subforum for people who participate in the public beta process, naturally it's required to use the public beta patches as well. I see like 30 more dynasties in my game with Nov 18th beta patch.

It must be a bad installation of the beta. I'll try re-extracting everything. This might also explain why the game keeps crashing in 1067.
