I gues they are strength/org, like in HoI1.

About range. Do fleets 'close in' on each other automatically or can you set terms of engagement (evade at all costs, engage but try and stay out of range of enemy guns, close in and f*ck 'em etc.)

Ooooooh! Really important thought just hit me.

The battle shown has a Carrier (in range?) against Battleships (Out of Range?) so the small but better equiped Japanese will win (as Johan seems to be suggesting).

Now - Johan HAD to make the rules work this way or he could not make the Battle Scenerio work for a very important battle:

Hopefully, building carriers as Germany means that you're diverting precious resources from other, more important areas (as it would have IRL) and would doom the German player to defeat.

Also, I hope carriers won't be some sort of uber-weapons capable of sinking entire enemy navies by themselves, but I may be worrying too much over one alpha screenie.

Hmm, well. Singapore, 1941, Prince of Wales and Repulse. I think carriers should be a formidable opponent in the naval battles, but of course not a unbeatable foe. But as shown from my example, their impact should be huge.
