All this was made coz a monotheist wife can convert her husband really easy. That means a total mess on religion map.
A solution could be to allow these marriages but with significant malus. Also, AI should never use it (see above) but human yes if he really wants to.

Like how things were beforehand?

The oddities we see on the forums tend to be the unusual cases, which is why people make thread posts entirely about them, and they are almost always based on a human player's actions.

+1 It should be doable, but hard. It really make using the Ruler Designer less fun. If I want to be a non-Christian/Muslim King, I should be able to find a wife in all start dates.

I wonder whether they allowed incestual marriages for Zorastrians simply due to the whole lack of partners...

my two cents on the issue: it should be possible but extremely rare
But it wasn't that rare historically. It was useful, and therefore was considered just about anywhere it would have made a difference. It was "extremely rare" only for realms that were far away from the religious borders and/or firmly under the sway of the church/pope.

Maybe it would work better with a distance rule, where people can marry people with another religon if they live in close proximity(for example regions like Scandinavia, Iberia, Central Europe, British isles). For example it does not make sense for the King of England to marry a seljuk woman, but a Spanish King might marry a Muslim Andalusian woman. And a Christian Danish woman would probably marry a Norse Norwegian man. Historically this makes more sense than a absolutist Can or Can not marry infidels rule.

I really like this idea.

+1 from me too. This has always been my most hated "fix" that was done to the game. I mostly used it to marry off daughters to help end wars with infidels, throwing a story into the reason for the marriage. I even had my heir once marry a woman from one of the countries he helped liberate during the 1st crusade. Twas fun!

I think this is the key. Inter-religious marriages should be restricted, but allowed when within a realm or neighboring realms. That way we won't see the French princess marring the khan's daughter, but a Baltic petty kings could consider the Polish princesses fair game.

It also shouldn't be possible for zealous characters, to address the second point.

+1 the block is 2 steps back from what it should of been. I think paradox got to warped up in old gods with trying to stop player exploits they failed to realize they were crippling decent game strategies.

Hello everyone,

You can count me in as well, this is so frustrating, I used to marry an "infidel" most of the time for better qualities purpose, msot of the time women are cuter, but also because I found it true to history, like in the crusader state or with pagan and byzantine.
Anyway I've been trying to find a mod to correct it, but to no avail.
How is that possible that no one can do something about it, especially when you think about the fact that it was possible before...
I just hope that either paradox or a modder will change it to the way it was.

Good luck for the petition

+1

Ciao

ANYWAY FOUND THE MOD, SWEET:D
