Muslim overlord in PU cant annex christian subject.

So as Castille > Andalusia Im having the nasty problem - being unnable to integrate non muslim subject.
I've even tried changing my state religion in the save file to catholic, starting annexation, saving and reverting to sunni, but then the subject just rejects integration.
Is there no way to do it?
I know its a very fantasy scenario, but its very unfair that its impossible to integrate in such situation.
After all game allows multi-religious unions, so why dont go and let me annex them?

Flip back to Catholic, integrate, flip to Sunni again.

If anything they should make it that if you flip out of being Christian that you lose all PUs.

Changed subject's religion to sunni. Seems to be working.

Can still get a PU by vassalising their overlord, though
