This is a tradeoff for Christians: They can't use RMs to improve their diplomatic relations with heathens, but on the other hand, they can get personal unions.

Except it actually hurts non-Christians way more than Christians. Ottomans are the only non-Christian state worth RMing to ally in the game (except arguably Ming, but they aren't near Christians in the beginning anyway), so being part of the Christian diplomatic community is way better than being outside of it. Think of how much easier Granada would be if you could RM and ally France without flipping to Catholic rebels.

Aside from the gameplay perspective already explained by grommile, your 'historical' argument is pretty void. Some eastern despots (the Byzantines) married there daughters to muslim rulers. Representative? I think not. Name me any Iberian, Italian, French, Scandinavian, English, Scottisch, Irish, German, Polish, Lithuanian, Dutch, Bohemian - include all parts of catholic feudal Europe here - of whom royalty married a muslim ruler... Christians can't marry non Christians, but can have Personal Unions. Non Christians can marry all they want to boost relations, but can't have Personal Unions. The Christian nobles of Europe, especially the family of the reigning monarch, didn't marry outside of their faith.

Heck, Catholics didn't even want to marry Protestants. Especially in this time period, I highly doubt a western monarch would let one of his family members marry a heathen.

There's actually an event for Ethiopia about a Royal Marriage with Muslims that gives an adviser. I think at least Coptics should get royal marriages with Muslims, maybe even pagans. It'd make them more unique, since everyone complains about how they're so boring.

With the current trend we have, Paradox will address Orthodox/Coptic later on. Recently Protestant and Buddhism were made unique, and I won't be surprised in the next DLC if Coptic and/or Confucian gets a buff.

There have been instances (especially earlier, from the Middle Ages) where royal marriages took place between Muslims and Christians, typically when the relationship between the two was highly unbalanced. Yet if it were made possible in the game it would be far more common than it ever was historically.

This is correct. Played a couple of games with Christians and non-Christians and the only advantage of being non-Christian is that potential +25 opinion if you want to diplovassalize a country. Do notice that both Christians and non-Christians can diplovassalize everyone, and in the practice that +25 opinion is never as good as being able to get a PU or claim throne.

A potential balance change would allow non-Christians to diplovassalize anyone no matter the tech, or increase the maximum base tax allowed up to 60 for non-Christians.

While I like the idea, there would have to be certain restrictions/conditions before a marriage would be possible. A Christian vassal for example might be a candidate, or if maybe you're in a close alliance with a much smaller nation. You wouldn't expect to see Habsburgs on the Ottoman throne is what I'm saying :p but if the Ottomans wanted to get in good with Wallachia, or perhaps Castile had a soft spot for Granada, then maybe.

One swallow doesn`t make a summer...
One (or few) marriage doesen't make a rule.

There are more than few. l wrote one basic example. And there is no example A Muslim can make a Rm except Chritians or Jews. lts forbidden in lslam. Muslims can only make rm with Jews and Christians. But in game a Muslim state can make RM with Hindu or Tengri even?

a muslim man can marry every femaly, a muslim women just is allowed to marry muslimes.

Your example, a captured princess or sonething isn't a good one. These forced marriages usually not guilty. The kids are not legit.

Lot of catholic monarchs didn't ecen marry protestants or refomeds. A Muslim is far outpf the line.

But it should beeaaier to ally a muslim as christian. That happened more often.

The restriction is that non-Christians can't be junior partners in PUs, I think.

I once almost got PU'd by a muslim horde as orthodox in 1.13:

There are examples of royal marriages between Muslim sultanates in indonesia and Ming if i remember correctly. And it wouldnt suprise me if Hindus married into Sultanates in India, maybe under the condition that the wife convert or something similar. When people of different faiths and cultures border and interact with eachother marriage is often a way to tie them together, no matter the faith.
I don't see why a Christian nation bordering a Muslim nation should be stopped from marrying them, seeing as the only times it would happen is if they ally or a player actively pushes for a royal marriage for safety/relations. If my history serves me correct many of the small Orthodox kingdoms in Anatolia had some kind of marriage ties with the Muslims, for example Trebizond and Qara Qoyunlu should have a royal marriage at the start.

Nope, Muslim men are only allowed to marry non-Muslim women if they are Jews or Christians. Doesn't mean that it never happened in history though, but it was still quite rare.

That's actually what my muslim exgirlfriend told me.

edit: To clarify: Muslim man can marry whomever they want.

Only Catholics, Protestants and the Reformed ones should have this restriction.

It was a common strategical move for Coptics and Orthodoxes to marry the Muslim powers for protection. (Trebizond marrying AQ for protection, which worked out)

I would guess that his prospective wife is expected to convert on her wedding day if not before?
