So for a while I've been toying with the idea of humans having to leave Earth suddenly, and getting to take nearly no human culture with them, and having to preserve it for future generations by simply 'rebuilding' it all from memory.
I just picture humans reconstruction or replictaing, to the best of their abilities, everything from the plays of Shakespeare to the Harry Potter books, reciting the scripts and scenes of movies and television shows and maybe even board and video games, and religious stories from the Torah to the Viking sags. Depending on who survived, they'd be able to preserve some works almost as they were, while others would have to just be summarized -- all the Star Wars fans between them could probably write the SW script almost verbatim, for example.
Then I picture the Mandela effect and ideological differences setting in, and disagreements ensuing about what exactly happened in various films, book, and sags. Perhaps you'd end up with several different versions of many famous works. Come to think of it, the same things would happen to our records of Earth history -- we'd end up with a simplified, distorted version, perhaps deliberately or inadvetedly rewritten in some aspects, as everything from myths and misperceptions to deliberate falsification affected what was written down.
Either way, I think a Reconstruction special project, and/or story arc, would fit certain events in Stellaris, perhaps especially for the Doomsday origin, possibly along with a Special Project or something to make a kind of 'ark' prior to the destruction of the planet with seeds, as much of the planet's media as possible, and possibly also the DNA/RNA of various species.
