Music no longer works

Hey all, started playing HoI2 DD Arma again recently and all was going well. Then a few days ago I went to continue my game as Germany, but the music wouldn't load up on initialization. All the other sounds were there, just no music.

I just reinstalled everything, and the music still won't load. Can anyone help?

Did you go into options in game and check the music volume?

Also check your music files, find peace/war.txt and tell me what they say.

I recently set the VLC media player as my default media player instead of Windows Media Player. It might have been around the time when the music stopped working. I then switched the HoI2 music files back to play in WMP, but that still did nothing.

How about adding it to a random playlist, launching it from the HOI music file?

That will be my last resort. I hope it doesn't come to that.

My sound drivers are installed, I did them personally when I received this computer from a friend. I play music on my computer regularly.

That being said, for some reason the HoI2 music won't play in Windows Media Player anymore. Apparently it is missing a codec now. The music will still playin VLC player though (everything plays there ).

Are the Arma sound files still in .mp3 format ?

Can you play any .mp3s through WMP ? If other files will play then the problem is with the Arma files.

it happens to me alot when using alot of music files. it just shuts off.

I have this same problem with Victoria, HoI2 and HoI3 demo. Sound effects are working but no music.

I have the exact same problem with HoI3, until I checked HoI 2; DD and Arma and it appears they ALL have the same problem.

Still no ideas?

Who cares anyway? A simple workaround is to use Window Media Player...

How to fix it?

I have HOI2 vanilla and the music works just fine.

I bought EUR and music doesnt work (I have to manually play the music but its not the same because it does not count the situations, war/peace etc in the game).

I contacted Paradox and even they dont know whats going on...

I tried the HOI3 demo and cant hear no music??

I have XP and never had any problems like these with other games? I mean why doesnt the music work if the Sound effects work fine?

Something fishy is going on. What code changes have been made since HOI2 vanilla? :wacko:

I have all Paradox games including all expansions installed (well not the obsolete versions) except for Diplomacy. Music works perfectly fine for all of them. So the problem has to be on your side, then. Do you all use the steam versions? Just a suspicion born out of hatred for that dreaded piece of junk...
