Muscovy ate my subject

Playing a game as the PLC, and I had Ryazan as a vassal...until it was insta-integrated by Muscovy. No warning, no popup, just gone. The only explanation I can think of is that the ruler of Ryazan died without a heir allowing Muscovy to get the free integration, despite the fact that Ryazan is my subject. Or maybe there's an event?

Either way, I call BS on this one. Or am I missing something?

This is the only screenshot I've got as proof that there was in fact a country there at some point and that I'm not crazy. Ryazan stretched from Voronezh up to Mozhaik (sp?) in the north, about 8 provinces in total.

It's possible to PU someone else's subject, I guess that happened, only they inherited it instead. That's a freak occurrence, but possible.

Damn, didn't know that was possible. Thought being someone's subject already would block that from happening. Thanks for the clarification.

Guess I'll just have to go liberate my poor minion and place a ruler from my dynasty on the throne.

Ryazan also starts with a Rurikovitch on the throne, so the dynasty is the same as that of Muscovy which I believe heightens the chance of Muscovy inheriting.

Yup, that's why I thought Muscovy getting the inheritance was most likely, just didn't know it was actually possible in that situation.

Usually I never bother to put my dynasties on vassal's thrones, but in the case of the Rurikovich hordes in Russia I think I'm going to reconsider that stance(at least when playing anyone not Muscovy)

Same here, never really felt the need to place a relative on the throne before this. Thing is though, I have a von Habsburg on my throne, and so knowing my luck Austria will get the inheritance next time

I have heard tales that this is possible - the inheriting of vassal subjects. By overlord or external people. But in my thousands of hours of EU4 I have never managed to observe a successful case of this. Which is sad, seeing as I am a chronic abuser of the "palce realtive on throne" subject interaction. One of these days, it will finally do more than make me feel good abotu spreading my dynasty and reduce their long-term LD by 5%...

The only time someone has managed to PU one of my vassals was Brandenburg PUing my vassal Prussia as they get an event for that
