Munster game HT3 (4.1b): can England be resisted?

Playing Munster and annexed Leinster and Connaught giving me about 20 infamy. England has the mission conquer Ireland. I'm allied with Scotland, guaranteed by Brittany. I've had one peace with England (costing me 25 ducats) when they had about 10 WE. They DOW'ed me just after the truce elapsed (in spite of our RM). They use about 15-20 k troops against my 6k. I've played it several times from this situation using SE tactics, but I get slaughtered every time (ceding Leinster, Connaught and becoming a vassal) . Any ideas how to withstand England in this case? Thx.

Scorch the lands and wait for attriton to take them down a little. Then attack when the assult the fortress, their morale should be really low. I managed to repel two 13 000 Ottoman stacks and kill the both with my 7 000 strong Byzantine army using that tactic.

Get a loan, hire mercenaries. Do not allow them to build up a big stack in Ireland. They will probably only ship across new men in batches of 1000-2000, so those can be crushed easily. However, no chance against 20.000 of them.

Thank you guys for comments. OK, I'm still alive. I retried with 2 mercenarie cav extra as ireland is predominantly plains. That worked and I could wipe out a 8-9k stack (originally 13-14 k, but they suffered SE). In the meantime the English crushed Scotland. Then, the English amphious assaults initiated. In the picture they had transferred 13k troops and 8 k troops are unloading. I just lost a battle in Connaught but they accepted peace provided that I conceded defeat. Now I've 5 years to prepare for a new fight.

edit: I also survived the third war with England; as expected they DOW'ed me just as the truce was over. I was allied with Aragon and I wiped out the english armies on Ireland. Then England unfortunately peaces out with Aragon and the amphibious train starts to run at high gear. England granted me peace on concede defeat. Now (1424) I'm allied with CAS and I'm curious to the next war.

Continued my Munster game (1424), basically expecting that it would be game over in a decade or so.

1) First of all I noticed that England apparently canceled its "conquer Ireland mission": great news!!

2) England DOW'ed (and annexed) Scotland, who are allied with Castille. I followed the war closely (I'm allied to CAS) and at some point I see that the entire English army fights against CAS. I decided to DOW England, with alliance CB. Shortly after Brittany, Aragon and France joined the fun.

3) I conquer Meath and Ulster quickly and peace out for Meath, hoping and speculating that Rebels will generate Tyrone. Cheers!

Do you mean without DOW'ing England at all? Or wait while occupying Meath and Ulster?

If you send a spy on a fund Pariotic Rebels mission and they successfully seize the province and hold it for so many years it will defect to the person who funded the Rebels. I took large areas of the Ottoman Empire's Turkish lands like this as Russia.

I know, but I've no spies. Even if I had the spies, I would doubt to fund patriots since it's so costly. Junuxx possibly thinks of something else as he writes "you could have waited etc".

Castille and Aragon joined on my side, Portugal on the English side. POR was crushed by CAS, and I got Ulster. Nice to see that I was the alliance leader.

Yeah sure, I know this tactic and have used it frequently. Haven't speculated a second to use it now, however. I only apply it if I economically can afford a long war and if I'm militarily superior.
