Scenario:
Me, leader of alliance, at war with another alliance.
Spain is a member of the opposing alliance, but not the leader. I have been taking Spanish provinces, giving me a nice positive war-score.
Both Spain and the leader of their alliance have offers on the table at the same time, taking into account my +20% against Spain. This allowed me to take two provinces and money from Spain, then a LOT of money from the alliance leader (with whom I was at 0% once Spain exited the war).
I suggest that making a separate peace with a member of the opposing alliance should automatically remove their alliance leader's proposal from your screen, so the computer gets a chance to recalculate what it should offer you.
