Within the context of the game every building has only one entrance/exit, in recent updates it even shows the entrance point in certain modes, at east for placed buildings.

However this is rarely the case, even houses tend to have a back or side door. in terms of shops usually there's some rear entrance for deliveries.

My suggestion, perhaps more for a full sequel than an upgrade to the core game, wold be for buildings to have alternate exit nodes, from which players could run another road or even just a path up to, just for a touch more realism.

Another possible suggestion would be potential exits above the ground floor, either to connect to an elevated road, a pedestrian bridge, or just to suit hilly areas were one side of the building ends up 'embedded' in the hill and the road behind it is level with the first floor or higher.

I generally agree. But aren't there already today some buildings with more than one entrance? The train station has for example a door on the back, if you connect a pedestrian path to this little house-thing. Also the monorail-over-road should have two exits, one for each side. Maybe it is less a problem of possibility than of consequent implementation in assets.

Connecting elevated pedestrian paths or tunnels to elevated roads or road tunnels would be really cool.
