Say, for example, I've lassoed two armies - One with Militia and Heavy Infantry, the other strictly calvary - and send them in to fight the enemy. Will the game sum up my military power in that opposing province or do they fight separately? I don't want to merge them because once the opposing army is fought off and the siege begins I want to be able to send my calvary off somewhere else where'd they be more useful.

I'm still learning how the game's battle mechanics work and this is a question that just came to mind. Pontus is a great country for a n00b/novice. Love it.

Oh, and, what exactly does trading GAME do for me? Rather, how exactly do STARTING POINTS benefit me?

The game either uses only the single general for the entire two armies in the battle who is either:

1. The first to arrive in the province
2. The highest martial rating

So if you have a 5 and an 8 martial rating general both in the same province with two different armies, the 8 martial will take the lead.

However, if you move a martial 9 into the battle with more troops it will still use the 8 until the battle is over.

In VV, trading is good not only because it gives you income but transports civilization value to your colonies.

To speed colonization up I usually trade low civ provinces with Rome or other capitals so that the colonies increase civ levels faster and colonize other provinces nearby.

If you send both armies in at once (and beware that the cavalry army will get there before your infantry, so be careful with your timing), then they both fight as one. They remain as two armies, but they just fight at the same time.

You should be able to select the army that you want so that one can stay to besiege while the other moves on. When you click on the army sprite, only one of the two armies will be selected. It's hard to explain without a screenshot, but there is definitely a way to do it.

What I do is sent the sent both units and see what their arrival dates are and then stop the faster one for a day or two and then restart moving again.

Then I check to see if its going to arrive on the same day or after by a day or two.

On the other hand, if you are chasing a defeated army into difficult terrain (mountains, rivers, etc)m sending the cavalry army first works like a charm - the AI army gets the attacker terrain penalties.
