I used to play EU3 some time ago, and I absolutely loved the multiplayer part. Playing 4 hour sessions with 10-20 other people, scheming, doing diplo, backstabbing, etc. was amazing. I can unfortunately not access the EU 4 multiplayer subforum (is this only for registered EU4 players?), but how is the multiplayer scene? Are there many active, fun games? Are many players involved in them?

I haven't bought the game, and if I buy it, I would basically only use it for multiplayer. The multiplayer part is crucial to my purchase decision.

In the MP forum here there are 21 threads with last-post date in March 2014 (ie the last 3 days), of which almost all are current MP games. And that's not counting games started in the Steam EU4 forum. So yes, there is a very active MP community here. I'm not going to go into each thread and count the number of players, sorry.

I would say quite active, no hard numbers but I believe most days have several different games running at different hours. Weekends are of course more popular but quite a good amount of weekday games too. Most are also the 4 hour sessions you are used to, once a week I believe I'm on my third and fourth ones currently and all of them have had 20+ players at the beginning. There were many issues on release but at this point in time it is also a lot better stability wise than EU3.
